Withdraw a Pending Game Request

Learn how to withdraw a game request you submitted via Open Games, before your assignor accepts it.

New to requesting games? Start with our guide on self-requesting open games.

Already assigned to a game and need out? That's a different flow. See Canceling a Game Assignment.

When you can withdraw

You can withdraw a request while it's still Pending Assignor Approval, meaning your assignor hasn't accepted it yet. The option is not available for:

  • Games where your request has already been accepted (you're assigned)

  • Games waiting on you to accept

  • Requests that were declined

Where to find it

Head to your My Games page. On any game with a pending request you'll see a Withdraw Request button where the "Pending Assignor Approval" label used to be.

On desktop: tap the Withdraw Request pill on the game's row, or open the row's menu (⋯) and choose Withdraw Request.

On mobile: the game's card shows Withdraw Request as its main button while your request is pending.

How to withdraw

  1. Tap Withdraw Request on the game.

  2. A confirmation appears: "Withdraw your request?" It reminds you that your request will be canceled and the role will reopen for other officials.

  3. Tap Withdraw Request to confirm, or Cancel to keep your request in place.

Once confirmed, you'll see a "Request withdrawn" message and the game updates right away. The role reopens for other officials immediately.

Timing matters. If your assignor accepts your request before you confirm the withdrawal, you're assigned to the game and the withdraw option goes away. At that point, follow the steps for canceling an assignment instead.

Troubleshooting

I don't see the Withdraw Request button. Check the game's status. The button only appears while your request is pending. If the status shows anything other than a pending request, the window to withdraw has passed.
