If you haven't yet, set up your availability. The system uses it when you check availability on a specific game. You can read more on setting up your availability here.
What's new
Open Games has been redesigned. The short version:
You'll now see every open game on the page, not just the ones that match your availability.
When a game catches your eye, tap Check Availability to see if you're free for it.
If you are, request the role like before. If there's a conflict, we'll let you know what kind.
Step 1: Browse Open Games
Start by navigating to the Open Games page from your dashboard.
Desktop Pictured Below:
Mobile Pictured Below:
Each row shows the basics for a game: game number, date and time, level, location, crew size (open and filled roles), and fees for open roles.
As with most pages in your dashboard you can use the search bar and filters at the top of the page to narrow down the results displayed to you. Search includes age, level, locations/cities and official names.
Step 2: Check Availability
When you find a game you'd like to work, tap Check Availability on that row. The row will expand to show the status of each role on the crew.
You'll see one of these for each role:
Available β You're free for this game and have no conflicts. Tap Request on the role you want.
Already assigned elsewhere β You have another game at this date and time. You can't request this one, and we'll show a quick message letting you know.
Availability conflict β οΈ Your weekly availability says you're unavailable (or hasn't been set) for this game's day and time, but you don't have another assignment in the way. You'll see a popup asking if you'd like to continue anyway.
About the Availability Conflict popup
If your availability says you're not free for the game's time but you'd like to request it anyway, tap Continue Anyway. That activates the Request button for that game so you can submit your request.
This is a one-time pass. Continuing anyway only applies to that specific request. It does not change your default weekly availability or add a date override. To update your defaults, head to your availability settings from your profile.
Step 3: Request the role
Tap Request on the role you want. Once submitted, the game moves to your My Games page and is marked Pending Assignor Approval.
Your assignor will be notified and can either accept or reject your request. Notch will let you know either way.
A couple things to remember;
Some assignors limit how many requests you can submit in a day, so choose your requests wisely.
Certain games require certification from a governing body. Keep your profile up to date with any licensure your assignor needs.
If a role gets taken by another official between when you check availability and when you tap Request, we'll refresh your list with what's still available so you can pick another one.
What if I don't see any games?
A few things can cause this:
No games are open for self-request right now. Some competitions aren't open for self-requests, and that varies by competition and assignor. Check with your assignor if you think there should be games available.
No games match your eligibility. Open Games shows games you're eligible to work based on your sport, group membership, and any required certifications. Make sure your profile is up to date.
Your assignor hasn't released games yet. Games appear in Open Games once they've been published with open roles.
If you've checked all of the above and still aren't seeing games, reach out to Notch support.
