Sign up and register your Official account

Updated over a year ago

👋 Welcome to Notch! We're so glad you're here. In this article we will walk you through signing up for your official account.

Step 1: Accept an invite

You should have already received an invitation to join your assignor’s group in Notch, which will give you access to view and accept or request assignments across all competitions.

Your assignor may provide you a link to click and get started, or you may receive it via email. If you don't see it at the top of your inbox, try searching for an email from Notch at hello@joinnotch.com with a subject line of "You’re invited to join <Name of Group> in Notch".

The email contents should look something like this -

Once you have opened the email you can click or tap the dark blue "Accept Invite" button in the middle of the email. Please note, this invitation only is active for 7 days. If you wait for longer than 7 days to register your account you will need to request a new invitation from your assignor.

Once you have pressed the "Accept Invite" button, your browser will open a new tab to begin the registration.

Step 2: Register an account

Go ahead and fill out the email and password fields and press the green "Get Started" button to continue. This will trigger another email to your inbox that will contain a verification code to enter on the verification screen. Leave this screen open and return to your email inbox. You should see a new email from hello@joinnotch.com that contains your 4 digit verification code.

The email should look like this -

Enter the code to the verification page for your account registration and press the green "Verify Email" button to continue.

Didn't receive an email? Try waiting a few minutes for the email to be delivered. If you still haven't received an email after 5 minutes select the "Click to resend" link below the verify email button to send another verification code.

Step 3: Enter your personal details

If the code you entered in step 2 you entered is valid you will be brought to a new screen requesting your first and last name as well as the option to enter a preferred name. Please enter in the required fields that are marked with a red asterisk (*) next to the field name. Once the required information is filled out select "Continue" to move onto the next screen, please do the same on the next screen. After entering your home address you will proceed to the next step to enter your mobile phone information.

Step 4: Verify your mobile phone

Please enter a phone number that is able to receive SMS (text messages) in order to continue your registration. In a few moments you should receive a message on your phone with a 4 digit verification code. Copy this code and enter it on the registration page.

Not seeing your verification code? Make sure your phone has service and is able to receive SMS messages. If you still are not seeing a message with your code try sending another by selecting the "Click to resend" link on the verification page.

If the code you entered is valid, you will be brought to a new screen requesting an emergency contact.

Step 5: Emergency contact

Fill out your emergency contact name, relationship to you, and their phone number to continue. If you're a minor under the age of 18, this should be your parent or guardian.

Step 6: Birthdate & SSN info

On this screen you will be asked to provide your birthdate and last 4 digits of your social security number. This information is needed to help facilitate payments for games you work. Please take care to enter this information accurately to ensure payment and reporting is handled correctly.

Using the date picker, enter your birthdate by first selecting the year you were born -

Once you have provided your birthdate, you will be asked to enter the last 4 digits of your Social Security Number (SSN). By selecting the "I'll do it later" checkbox, this will allow you to skip the step and add the information to your profile later, which can be managed in "Settings."

NOTE: Your account may be restricted to receiving payments if you do not enter your SSN information.

Step 7: Enter your experience

Let your assignor know about your experience and certification details. On this screen please enter these details as requested -

  • The year you started officiating

  • Select "Yes" if you have a valid certification by a governing body as an official or "No" if you're not a certified official

  • If you select "Yes" you will be asked which entity provided the certification

Here is an example of what this may look like for you -

Additional details may be requested later on by Notch to validate your credentials and eligibility. For example, your USSF ID.

Once you have entered all your certification details, select "Next" to continue.

Step 8: Complete registration

Select the "Complete Registration" button on the next screen to finalize your registration. 🎉 Congratulations! You have successfully completed your registration with Notch and can now request assignments for open games in your group.
