The open games page will display all games that are open for requests and match your current availability. Once you find a game you want to request simply tap the position you want and click the request button. On mobile you will need to first tap request then select your position.
As with most pages in your dashboard you can use the search bar and filters at the top of the page to narrow down the results displayed to you.
What happens now?
Once requested the game will move into your 'My Games' page of your dashboard and will be marked with "Pending Assignor Approval".

Additionally, your assignor will be notified of the request via their dashboard. Your assignor will either accept or reject your assignment request. Regardless of the outcome, Notch will be notify you of any changes to the request.
A couple things to remember ;
Some assignors may have limits on the number of requests you can submit in a day. So choose your requests wisely.
Certain games may require certification by a governing body. Make sure to keep your profile up to date with any licensure information should your assignor require it.
What if I don't see any games?
This could be due to a variety of different factors. Some of the most common will be outlined below :
Unconfigured Availability. This is common for those who are new to Notch. By default your availability is not configured when you generate your profile. In order to see any games in 'Open Games' you will need to first set up your availability. To learn how to do so you can follow this article.
No games match your availability window. The 'Open Games' page will only display games where you will be available to work for the entirety of the games duration. This includes cases if you have another assignment that overlaps at any point. If you don't show any games or are missing games that you know are occurring you will want to check both your existing assignments and availability.
No games available for self request. Some competitions are not open for self requests. This will vary from competition to competition and assignor. If you covered your the cases from the first two points above you may want to check with your assignor to see if any games are available.
