What Do I Wear to an Ompractice Class?
Dress Code: At Ompractice, we ask that you wear appropriate attire that is respectful to yourself and others in the class. This generally means comfortable clothing suitable for a variety of movements and exercises, and we do ask that you dress in a public-friendly way. (PJs are okay, just underwear is not!)
1. Comfort is Key:
Wear clothes that allow you to move freely! Opt for stretchy, breathable fabrics that wick away sweat. (Our general vibe is more like a family-friendly YMCA)
Avoid anything too loose or baggy, as it might get in the way during certain poses or exercises.
2. Class-Specific Recommendations:
Yoga and Pilates: Wear fitted tops and bottoms. Leggings or yoga pants paired with a form-fitting tank top or T-shirt work well.
Fitness Classes: Choose moisture-wicking fabrics. Athletic shorts or leggings and a comfortable top are ideal so you can get sweaty!
Meditation and Mindfulness: Wear layers to adjust for temperature changes. Comfortable, loose-fitting clothes are best.
3. Footwear:
Barefoot Classes: Most of our yoga, Pilates, and stretching classes are done barefoot. If you're more comfortable with a little support, consider yoga socks with grips.
Tai Chi Classes: for standing classes, you may prefer a supportive shoe!
Fitness Classes: Wear supportive athletic shoes designed for the type of exercise you’ll be doing. (Our strength classes and pelvic floor classes are more comfortable with sneakers!)
4. Accessories:
Hair Ties: If you have long hair, tie it back to keep it out of your face.
Mat and Props: Have your yoga mat, blocks, and any other props you might need ready. A towel and water bottle are also good to have on hand. (Don't have props, that's okay!) All of our classes have a note about whether you need props or not on the class pages, and you can read more here.
5. Personal Comfort:
Ultimately, wear what makes you feel good! The most important thing is that you feel comfortable and don't find that clothing becomes a personal distraction!
Common Concerns:
Do I need to buy special clothes? No need to purchase anything special. Just make sure what you wear allows for a full range of motion and feels comfortable. (We don't work with apparel companies, but if you'd like recommendations, don't hesitate to ask!)
