Ompractice classes are generally designed to accommodate all fitness levels, from complete beginners to advanced practitioners. Our goal is to provide a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone can participate and benefit, regardless of their experience or fitness level!
Need a gentle and restorative experience? We have it. If you want a challenge, we have that too.
What is Difficult?
Keep in mind that what’s considered difficult or challenging can vary *greatly* from person to person.
For some of us, the challenge might be physical, such as building strength or flexibility – and finding comfort or challenge in your body on the mat.
For others, it's the mental game, like staying focused or managing stress – and finding the ability to hold a longer pose or rest in Savasana at the end of a yoga class.
We hope that you can come to Ompractice classes and feel supported as you stretch yourself (figuratively and literally!) gently!
Our hope is also that you are kind to yourself – come to class ready to drop expectations on what's supposed to be "easy" or "hard", and you might surprise yourself!
Finding the right class for you:
When you sign up for Ompractice, our onboarding questions and recommendations can help you find the right level of challenge to start you off.
All Levels Welcome:
Most of our classes are designed as “all levels,” meaning they can be adapted for both beginners and more experienced students.
Our teachers are teaching to who is actually in the room! They provide modifications and variations to make sure that everyone can follow along comfortably and safely.
Filter the Schedule:
You can filter our class schedule by experience level, class type, class length, or class intensity to find the class that you need! Under the "students" filters, you can also select "Great for Beginners" or "Great for Visual Learners".
Class Tags and Descriptions:
Look for class tags and descriptions on the class pages to find the right fit for you. Classes are often labeled as “Beginner,” “Intro,” or “Gentle” to help you choose based on your comfort level and goals.
When you click into a class link to read more, you can find detailed class descriptions to give you insight into what to expect, helping you decide which class is right for you.
Teacher Support:
Our teachers are skilled at meeting you where you are! You'll get guidance and modifications. They’ll help you adapt exercises to match your fitness level and capabilities.
Don’t hesitate to let your teacher know if you need extra support or modifications during the class. (They'll have an eye out, but don't hesitate to ask!)
Common Concerns:
I’m a complete beginner. Will I be able to keep up?
Yes, you will! Our general classes include modifications for beginners, and you can follow along at your own pace. Look for classes labeled “Beginner” or “Intro” or "Gentle" for a gentler start.
I have some experience. Will I be challenged enough?
Absolutely. Our teachers offer advanced variations for those looking to challenge themselves. Look for “Intermediate” or “Power” classes if you want to push a little harder! (Our full body barre and pilates classes can also be a nice challenge!)
What if I can’t do a certain exercise or pose?
Our teachers will generally give multiple options and modifications for each exercise or pose. You can choose the variation that feels best for your body. It’s perfectly okay to take breaks or skip any movements that don’t feel right for you! Usually teachers will give suggestions for rest poses as well if you need to take a break.
How do I know if a class is right for my fitness level?
Read the class descriptions and tags to find one that matches your fitness level and goals. Our team is also here to help you choose the best classes for your needs – don't hesitate to reach out to us in chat, or ask a question in your class review form.
Can I participate if I have specific health concerns or limitations?
Yes, many of our classes are designed to be accessible and can be modified to accommodate various health concerns and physical limitations. You can let your teacher about your specific needs in your health notes so they can provide appropriate modifications.
