Do You Have Classes for Seniors?

Yes, we actively focus on serving a senior audience at Ompractice. In fact, seniors are our largest and fastest-growing demographic! Our classes are specifically designed with accessibility in mind, ensuring that all participants, regardless of age or ability, can safely and comfortably participate.

We operate under the ethos that when you design with aging in mind, you design a better experience for everyone, regardless of age!

Key Points:

Accessibility and Inclusivity:

  • Our classes are designed to be accessible to everyone. This commitment is reinforced by our work with the VA, healthcare organizations, where we support a large population of seniors, as well as those with significant accessibility needs: service-disabled veterans and students with multiple health concerns.

  • The camera-on format of our classes allows our teachers to provide real-time feedback and support, ensuring a safer and personalized experience.

Class Options for Seniors:

  • All classes are designed with seniors in mind (and we have seniors of all ages in our classes!) Whether you are an active fitness enthusiast looking to maintain or improve your fitness, or a complete beginner looking to start a new habit, you are welcome here! Our teachers offer modifications to cater to different fitness levels and abilities in all of our classes.

  • Gentle Classes: These classes are designed to be low-impact and easy on the joints, perfect for anyone looking to stay active without doing too much too fast.

  • Seated Classes: We have both specific chair yoga, and seated classes that focus on strength, flexibility, and relaxation while seated, making them ideal if you have limited mobility or balance challenges.

Modifications and Support (the norm, not the exception to the rule!):

  • All our classes can be modified for any ability. Our teachers are here to provide clear instructions and alternatives to make sure that everyone in a class can practice safely and effectively.

  • Our teachers are trained to offer modifications and adapt exercises to meet the needs of all students, making sure that everyone can participate at their own pace and comfort level.

Common Concerns:

  • Are your classes suitable for beginners? Absolutely! Many of our classes are perfect for beginners. They emphasize gentle movement and foundational exercises and skill building.

  • How can I find the right class for me? Use our class filters to search for gentle, seated, or beginner-friendly classes. Our support team is also available to help you find the best classes to meet your needs.

Bottom line?

We're here for you! Whether you’re looking to improve your flexibility, strength, or overall well-being, we have classes that can accommodate your needs. Join us and get the benefits of staying active and engaged at any age. (We're happy to have you!)

A few words from our community:

❤️ I was a moderate skeptic thinking that this style of Yoga could be helpful for my old body. Boy, was I wrong. It is a life-changing experience twice a week as I practice.

❤️ I am a 69 year old Vet. I had a stroke years ago now so I struggle some physically, not as much as some. But I have taken about 4 of these classes. I never saw before my last visit to our VA. But I have to say I wish I had seen this at start. This is without a doubt the best thing I have ever seen. I thank you for this.

❤️ Emily is soothing, encouraging and allows each one of us to meet our own needs. As an 80 year old, I respect the fact that I feel empowered.

❤️ Beth led me today to move and breathe in ways that I would not have believed possible, given my age (72), my various health conditions, and my largely sedentary lifestyle since well before the start of the pandemic. She has given me a wonderful new perspective on what is possible. I am so grateful!

❤️ I haven't exercised for many years so this class was a challenge for me in many ways. I now understand how exercise is so important for me. I'm 77 years old, but it's really never too late to start.
