Battery-Only Installation – Required Documents When PTO Is Already Issued

Battery Only No PTO Funding. Battery No PTO

Updated over 4 months ago

If you are submitting a battery-only project and the original solar system already has PTO (Permission to Operate), please follow the documentation guidelines below. Since the utility has already granted PTO for the solar array, a new PTO is not required for the battery portion unless mandated by your local utility or AHJ.

Required Documents – Battery-Only Submission

Proof of Original PTO (Solar System Only)

Upload a copy of the original PTO or utility approval showing that the solar system is active and operational.

Battery Permit

Upload the approved permit for the battery installation.

Proof of Passed Battery

Inspection

Submit documentation showing that the battery installation passed final inspection.

Battery-Specific Contractor Lien Waiver

A lien waiver confirming that the installer/contractor has acknowledged work completion for the battery portion.

Fund Release – Customer Approval Confirmation

The customer must approve the fund release.

Proof of Battery

Operating/Commissioned

Provide confirmation that the battery is commissioned and operational, which may include screenshots, utility meter activation notice, commissioning certificate, or monitoring proof. Important Reminders If this is a battery only and customer has no solar we do not need any solar PTO information
