Which editor is this for? This guide covers the new Site Editor. You are in the right place if your toolbar has a Media button and your assistant is called Ellie. If it does not, you are on the Site Tuner — see the Site Tuner guides instead.
Changes you make in the Site Editor are saved as you go. They reach the public when you publish.
Saved is not live
Whenever you have unpublished work, a banner sits above the prompt bar: Your changes are saved but aren't on your website yet. Ellie says the same thing after you accept one of her drafts.
This is deliberate. You can make a run of changes over several days, review them, and put them all in front of customers in one go.
Publishing
There are two ways to publish, and they do the same thing:
Publish at the right-hand end of the toolbar.
Publish now on the banner above the prompt bar.
If you have not connected a domain yet, publishing walks you through connecting one.
Domain & Publishing
Open the round button in the bottom-left corner of the editor and choose Domain & Publishing, under Products. This screen holds your domain, its DNS and every publish your site has had.
My domain
The panel at the top shows your web address and its current status. A domain still being connected shows as Being set up, with a note telling you what is outstanding — for example that it is not answering yet, or that some DNS records point somewhere else.
Your DNS records
Below the domain is your DNS records table, showing each record's Type, Name, Value and TTL, with Edit and Delete on every row and Add record above the table.
These are the records you add and manage yourself — mail, domain verification and subdomains. The records that point your website to us are managed for you and are not listed here, so you cannot break your site by working in this table.
DNS is unforgiving. If you are not certain what a record does, ask support before editing or deleting it — a wrong change here can stop your email arriving.
Publish history
At the bottom is a dated list of every publish. The version currently on your domain is marked Live. If your site has never been published, this section says so.
A sensible routine before publishing
Review any draft from Ellie with Before and After, and accept it.
Switch the preview to Mobile and read the pages you changed.
Check your contact details and hours under Business.
Publish, then open your live site in a new tab and confirm the change is there.
