Making changes: the prompt bar and Ellie, your site assistant

How to ask for a change in plain language, what happens next, and how to write a request that gets you what you want.

Which editor is this for? This guide covers the new Site Editor. You are in the right place if your toolbar has a Media button and your assistant is called Ellie. If it does not, you are on the Site Tuner — see the Site Tuner guides instead.

Ellie is your site assistant. You describe what you want in the prompt bar at the bottom of the preview, and she drafts the edit across every page it affects.

This is one of three ways to work on your site — the others are the Style editor for design, and Settings for your business information. Ellie is the fastest route when the change is about wording, emphasis or adding something new.

Asking for a change

  1. Click the prompt bar — What do you want to improve?

  2. Describe what you want in your own words.

  3. Press the arrow to send it.

Ellie shows Refining your site while she works. When she is finished you will see a summary of what changed and a note along the lines of Done — your draft is ready to review. Tell me to accept or discard.

What makes a good request

Ellie works across your whole site, so it helps to say what you want to achieve rather than which words to change.

Instead of

Try

Change the title

Update my headlines to lead with sod installation rather than general landscaping

Add a page

Add a gallery page to showcase my recent work

Make it better for Google

Work local search terms for my services and service areas naturally into my key pages

Mention fall

Highlight seasonal cleanups and pre-winter protection, and add a call to action to book before winter

You can also ask Ellie about your market or about the product itself — she is not limited to editing.

Your conversation is kept

Open the panel icon at the left of the toolbar to see everything you have asked for and every set of changes that came back, oldest first. If new activity arrives while you are reading further up, a New messages button appears to jump you back to the bottom.

When Ellie needs something from you

She did not understand

If a message does not come through clearly, Ellie says so and shows an Answer needed block asking what you would like to work on next. Reply in the prompt bar with a fuller description.

She needs your photos

Some requests cannot be finished without material from you. If you ask for a gallery page before you have uploaded any photos, Ellie plans the page, tells you she has left a note to add the gallery itself once images exist, and gives you a shortcut to add them. Add your images under Media or Gallery, then ask again.

Changing your mind

Nothing is applied until you accept it, and nothing is live until you publish. See Reviewing a draft before it goes live.
