What is a Lesson Plan?

Lesson Plans are the foundation of every group class in Operation 36. They are the game plan for your classes. Only you—the coach—can see it. It outlines each week’s structure and helps keep classes focused and engaging.

Build a Lesson Plan

In just a few minutes, you can build a structured, repeatable plan to guide your players’ development.

  1. Go to the Lesson Plans page

    Click “Create New Lesson Plan.”

  2. Choose a template

Select from pre-built templates to get started quickly. We recommend starting with the 8-Week Pilot Lesson Plan.

  3. Customize the basics

    • Rename the plan if needed

    • Adjust class duration (we recommend 60 minutes)

    • Skip tags and notes unless necessary

Understanding the Lesson Plan Structure

Each plan breaks down into weekly classes. Click into any class to see the full session outline.

A typical class includes:

  • 10 min: Greeting

  • 20 min: Icebreaker Activity

  • 10 min: Education Block

  • 15 min: Main Activity

  • 5 min: Wrap-up

Add Your Own Activities

Use the built-in drill and activity database to drag and drop new content into each session. No need to build from scratch—we’ve got plenty of ready-to-use resources.

The Hamburger Method

Every class follows a simple, proven structure:

Train → Educate → Train again

We call it the “Hamburger Method.” It keeps students engaged and progressing every week.

Final Steps

  • Review your lesson plan

  • Click Publish to save and make it ready for your group program

Recap

  • Lesson Plans are private tools for coaches to stay organized

  • Everything is editable at any time

  • Publish your plan to attach it to a program and go live
