Using announcements to keep students informed

Keep students informed with announcements in the Op 36 app. Learn how to send messages and track who’s read them.

Overview

Announcements are an excellent way to keep your students informed each week about your weekly classes and events. You can send announcements through the mobile app and web app, targeting a single program or event, or multiple programs and events all at once.

What Happens When you Send an Announcement?

Announcements will notify students in three ways.

  1. Email: By default, announcements are also sent as an email. If you’d prefer not to send the email version, you can toggle it off before posting.

  2. Push Notification: A notification is sent to the student or parent’s phone, letting them know a new message is available.

  3. In-App Inbox: Inside the Op 36 mobile app, families have an Announcement Inbox where all messages are stored. Unread messages will be clearly marked, making them easy to find.

Additionally, inside the Op 36 mobile app students and families can mark the announcements as “read,” giving you confirmation that your message has been received.

How to Send Announcements (Mobile)

With your mobile app open and logged in, navigate to the Programs tab at the bottom of your screen. Within Programs choose the Announcements tab at the top right of the screen.

This is your home for all announcements.

Good to know: The announcements feature may be locked if you're a new community. This is because you have no active programs or events to message. Simply build out your first program and or event to unlock this feature.


Within the announcement tab choose Post an Announcement this will open a modal. Within here you'll be able to update your class and or event with all necessary info.

How to Send Announcements (Web)

Log into your web app and navigate to the Activity Feed on your Dashboard. Click "Post an announcement" to launch the builder.

Within here you'll be able to update your class and or event with all necessary info. Additionally, you'll be able to see whose read your message just like on the mobile app.

What do Students and Families see?

After you post an announcement students and families will receive an email by default and a push notification will be sent to their phone.

Additionally, this announcement will show up on their dashboard inside the Op 36 mobile app the next time they login.

When the student clicks on the announcement they will be able to read the full message and mark the message as "Read" This will then notify you as the coach that this student has read your message.
