Announcements vs. Email

We’ve all been there — you send an important email, and inevitably some people never see it, or they just don’t check their email at all.

With Announcements and Send an Email, you have two great tools to get important information out to students and families when they need it most.

Here’s how to decide which to use!

Announcements (for short, time-sensitive updates)

Announcements are sent directly through the app, where your students and families are four times more likely to see them in a timely manner.

Use Announcements for:

  • Time-sensitive updates (like schedule changes)

  • Quick reminders

  • Short, important messages

Key benefits:

  • Delivered straight to the mobile app

  • Students and families can easily find and revisit announcements at any time

  • Helps your app become the central hub for all important communication

Send an Email (for longer or less urgent messages)

Send an Email is best for larger, more detailed messages that may not be as urgent.

Use Send an Email for:

  • Newsletters

  • Detailed event information

  • Seasonal updates

Key benefits:

  • Great for providing lots of details

  • Ideal for information that families may want to save or reference later

Customize Your Audience

Both Announcements and Send an Email allow you to choose exactly who you’re sending messages to — whether that’s a full roster, a specific group, or even individual families.

Quick Tip:

When in doubt, if it’s short and time-sensitive → use an Announcement.

If it’s longer and less urgent → Send an Email!
