The Openstage Shopify integration pulls fan and order data into Openstage in real time via the Openstage Sync app. Once connected, every Shopify purchase creates or enriches a fan profile automatically.
Install the Shopify App
Navigate to Settings > Integrations > Shopify.
Click Install Shopify App - this takes you directly to the Shopify App Store.
Log in to Shopify if prompted, then install the Openstage Sync app.
Once installed, open the app - your artist roster appears.
Select the artist you are connecting the Shopify store to.
Connection between Shopify and Openstage is established. Fans pulled through from Shopify are automatically assigned the shopify-welcome tag.
Import Historical Orders
Orders placed before the Shopify app was connected can be synced to Openstage via Historical Sync.
Select Sync Fans and Orders to start pulling in historical orders.
🟡 Please note: If you have previously imported Shopify records manually, running a historical sync will create duplicate transaction records. Only run a historical sync if you have not already imported data from Shopify.
You can find fans pulled in via historical sync by filtering for the shopify-welcome tag in your Fans list.
Multiple Shopify stores for one artist
Repeat the setup process for each additional Shopify store until all stores are connected.
Multiple artists on one Shopify store
Artists on a Shopify superstore can be segmented using Shopify's Vendor feature.
Once your store is connected, add the Vendor name in the integration settings. Only orders linked to that Vendor will flow into Openstage.
🔴 Please note: Set the correct Vendor name before running a historical sync. Failing to do so may pull in orders unrelated to your artist.
Disable the old Shopify webhook
If your Shopify store was previously connected to Openstage via a webhook, disable it and switch to the Shopify app integration.
Remove the old webhook
In Shopify, navigate to Settings > Notifications > Webhooks > Orders.
Delete both parts of the old Openstage webhook.
The webhook is now disabled.
Build Shopify Audiences
If you have connected your Shopify store or imported Shopify transaction data manually, you can segment fans by transaction details in the Audience Builder using the following filters:
Type - merch, physical music, digital music, or ticketing (or any Shopify merch categories pulled in via the integration)
Transaction description - the product name or description
Source - Shopify
Volume - number of items purchased
Value - total transaction spend
In the last X days - filter by recency
