🛑 Create a QR Code

Turn anonymous gig-goers into known fans with QR codes

Written by Harry Drake

QR codes give fans a frictionless way to join your world at shows, events, and anywhere your campaign is visible. Scanning a code opens an instant sign-up flow - helping you identify brand new fans and enrich data for existing ones in a single step.

Create a QR code

1. Navigate to Engage > QR Codes.

2. Click Create QR Code.

3. Configure your QR code:

  • Add a link to an Openstage page or any external URL

  • Add an optional image to the center of the QR code

  • Adjust the color of the QR code to match your campaign

🟢 Top tip: Use contrasting colors to ensure the code scans reliably. Black and white work best in most settings, but colors can be adjusted to match your campaign.

4. Click Preview to review the generated code.

5. Click Create to finalize. The QR code is then available to download.

🟢 Top tip: Test the full flow from scanning the QR code through to the destination page before printing or displaying at an event - especially if the code will appear on merchandise, posters, or event screens.

In-venue fan capture

QR codes work particularly well for in-venue data capture at shows. Linking your QR code to a dedicated landing page lets you capture new fans in the room and identify returning gig-goers.

All Openstage landing pages collect email address as mandatory. If you want to prioritize phone number capture - for example, to grow your SMS list at shows - you can configure the sign-up flow to lead with phone number collection, followed by email.

Note: If you have previously used a third-party in-venue data capture tool such as SET, see our article for connecting SET to Openstage.
