Accounting Settings Overview

Learn how to configure school financial rules, object codes, fund accounts, email alerts, and thresholds in Edlio Accounting.

The Settings module in Edlio Accounting serves as the administrative backbone for your school's financial structure. From here, bookkeepers and district administrators configure notification triggers, object codes, fund hierarchies, sub-accounts, and general system behavior.

Navigating the Settings Module

Click Settings in the top navigation bar. The settings interface features a left vertical navigation menu providing direct access to key configuration categories:

💡 Best-Practice Adoption Tip: Review your Settings at the start of every fiscal school year. Verify that teacher notification preferences, low-balance alert thresholds, and active fund accounts reflect current staffing and student club rosters before recording transactions.

Settings Categories Explained

  • Notifications: Configure global alert rules, low balance threshold amounts (in USD), and choose delivery channels (Email, SMS, In-App) for transaction approvals and monthly summaries.

  • Email: Manage outgoing email templates, receipt delivery notices, and default reply-to addresses for school financial correspondence.

  • Object Codes: Maintain standard accounting classification codes (e.g., Supplies, Travel, Dues) aligned with your state and district reporting chart.

  • Fund Accounts: Define and organize student activity funds, athletic teams, academic departments, and booster reserves.

  • Sub-Accounts: Set up sub-ledger tags to track granular spending within a parent fund (e.g., tracking individual student trip payments under a Band parent fund).
