Full Admins and Schedulers with top-level schedule permissions can create full-season or group-specific public schedule widgets. This new public schedules widget is highly customizable and offers administrators the ability to place a polished, responsive, and automatically updating schedule on their website for easy viewing. These widgets are available to post on both OTTO Sport websites or any external website of your choosing.
Follow these steps to create and embed your schedules:
Step One: Enable permissions for game schedules to be viewed publicly
1. From the navigation, select Programs > choose your program and season > Scheduling. Click on the edit at the season level or grouping level.
2. Select Permissions and scroll to the Public Permissions heading.
3. Switch the ‘Allow Game Schedules to be publicly viewable’ to ON. When this toggle is set to ON, the configured widgets will display game data for the season/grouping per their configuration. Once complete, click Save.
Note: The default setting for this configuration is OFF.
Step Two: Configuring the Public Schedules Widget
1. From the navigation, select Settings > Public Widgets > Scheduling > from the Widget dropdown menu, choose Seasonal Schedule.
2. Choose the Schedule Type as Games.
3. Use the dropdown menu to select the program and season.
4. Choose the parameters for the games shown in the widget based on the season selected - either games in the entire season or games from specific groupings.
5. A widget preview will be generated as season or grouping selections are made. The widget will also have options for viewers to break down game info into the following categories:
Groupings: Displays games per seasonal groupings
Locations: Displays games for each location and surface within the scoped data
Clubs: Displays games for each of the clubs that have seasonal teams within the scoped data
Tip: Clicking on any team name will display all home and away games for that team.
6. If permissions to publicly view the schedule for the season have not been enabled, games will not be displayed in the preview area. Return to the Scheduling> Edit > Permissions view to enable. (See step one)
7. Once widget selections have been made, choose the destination for the widget:
If the widget will be placed on a website that OTTO Sport hosts, select ‘This website’. If selecting ‘This website’ the widget will only function when added to ‘yourorganizationname.ottosport.com’ and ‘yourorganizationname.ottosport-secure.com’
If the widget will be placed on a website that is hosted outside OTTO Sport, enter the web address. Once the web address is entered the widget will only function when added to webpages under the same domain.
8. Click Create Widget.
If placed on a website hosted by OTTO Sport: Your widget will now be available for your website. Click on your Site Map link and select the Widget option when adding content to any page.
If placing on an external website: Copy the code snippet and embed it into your website. Note: The widget will only function when added to pages under the same domain as designated in the Destination Website section.
Step Three: Adding the Schedules widget to your website
For OTTO Sport Websites:
After you have created your widget, it can be added to any webpage under your organization’s domain hosted by OTTO Sport. To add to your website:
1. Go to your site map and locate the page you want to add the widget on, then select the Add Content button. Choose Widget as your content type.
2. Enter a title for the widget and, using the drop-down menus, select the season and seasonal groupings generated from Step Two above. Click Save once complete.
Note: If you do not see your Season or Grouping available, you must return to Step Two to generate the widget code first.
3. The widget will then be displayed and available to the public.
For External Websites:
If you are choosing to embed your Schedules widget on an externally hosted website, use your copied widget code and place it within any HTML editor. Example below:
Note: When the ‘Seasonal Team Widget Visibility’ is enabled per seasonal team, from any public website widget (Standings, Accepted Teams, or Schedules), team names will be clickable and linked to a Public Team Widget view.
