How to create a Style
Updated over a week ago

A Style allows you to set a document's appearance settings and apply them to multiple documents, keeping them on brand and saving you time. A number of elements can be set to control how your document is displayed to your readers and the functionality available to them.

💡 A selection of Styles branded to your organisation are available to use in your account - why not give this a try first before creating your own?

How to create a new Style

  • Select ‘Documents’ from the main menu.

  • Select ‘Settings’ followed by ‘Styles’.

  • Select the ‘Add’ button.

  • Start by entering a name for the Style in the 'Details' section.

💡 Make sure the name is clear and logical, so you know what you’re looking for when you add the Style to a Document.

Style Settings

Several tabs are available containing different settings that can be configured for a Style.

Document Size

Set how your document will be sized on the browser it’s being viewed on. We advise keeping the ‘Stretch to Fit’ checkbox selected and choosing ‘Stretch to Width and Height’ for single page view, as this will ensure the page fits the size of the browser making it easier for your readers to read.

Document View

Choose how you would like your pages to be presented, for example single- or double-page mode. If you’re using a Book layout (portrait) use double-page. Whereas Presentation layout (landscape) suits single-page mode. You can also set if you would like the pages to be scrollable which can be great for viewing on mobile devices. The clickable area colour is also set here, which is the ‘glow’ colour of any interactive elements in your document.

Toolbar

Lots of options are available here so take the time to have a look through and see what suits your needs! Choose the appearance of the toolbar, such as position, colour, and the options available on it. For example, enable the ‘Download Option’ if you would like your readers to be able to save a PDF version of your document design.

Pop ups

Pop-ups apply to anything in your document that displays in a pop-up box – for example, a More Information pop-up, Assessment module or Poll. Various options are available here, such as border and button colour – this is a valuable tool as it can save time so much time as you no longer have to set the options for individual elements!

Background

A much smaller section, from here you can choose the background for your document – we would advise keeping this neutral and simple to keep your readers attention where it matters.

Chart Settings

Used the Chart interactive element? Then this is the section where you can control the appearance of them including colour, grid lines and font.

Page Turn

Various options are available here such as page turn speed and the ability to switch on zoom magnification, which can be useful for if your readers wish to view part of your document more closely. The most important option available here is ‘Remember Previous Interactions’ – when used in conjunction with a reader login or SSO security rule, your document can remember which page your readers got to and anything that they have already interacted with.
