How to make an animated map with PamCam

PamCam is PamPam’s map video animator — it lets you turn your maps into smooth, shareable videos.

Updated this week

PamCam is PamPam’s new map video animator — it lets you turn your maps into smooth, shareable videos.

Step 1: Create Your Map

Before animating, start by making your map with PamPam’s map maker.

  • Add places by searching for them by name or address.

  • Use AI to generate suggested pins automatically.

  • Or import a list of places directly from a spreadsheet.

  • Once you’ve placed your pins, click “Export” to open PamCam. It's next to the Share button.

Step 2: Edit Your Animation in PamCam

Now you’re in PamCam — the video maker.
You’ll see a timeline of keyframes below the main video preview.

  • Each keyframe represents a moment in your animation.

  • Zoom and move the globe or map to set the view for that keyframe. You can move the map within each keyframe, or use the tools on the right.

  • You can rearrange or adjust keyframes to get the perfect sequence.

Step 3: Adjust Video Settings

Above the video preview, you’ll find several controls:

  • Aspect Ratio → Choose the best format for your platform (e.g., landscape, square, etc.).

  • 1x or 2x Export → Higher export quality with 2x.

  • Spot Size → Choose how pins behave:

    • Adaptive: pins adjust to make space for each other.

    • Fixed Sizes: small, medium, or large pins stay consistent.

Step 4: Preview Your Video

  • Click the purple Play button to preview the animation.

  • Make any adjustments to keyframes or settings until it feels right.

Step 5: Export or Snapshot

When you’re ready:

  • Click “Record” to export your animation as an MP4 video.

  • Click “Snapshot” to download a PNG image of your map.

Each PamCam video or PNG has a PamPam logo on it. Upgrade to a paid plan to remove the logo.

Pro Tip: Keep your keyframes to 10 keyframes or less for best results and snappy videos.
