FAQs for Teachers

Short answers to some common questions.

Written by Robin Abbott

Who writes this content?

  • This content comes from the Purposeful Design curriculum developed and published by Purposeful Design Publications (PDP), the publishing arm of ACSI, the Association of Christian Schools International. You are viewing ACSI’s digitized version of their Teacher Edition, PDP Digital (powered by Edusfere).

  • Each course is created by a team of Christian educators with experience spanning elementary through university levels, working collaboratively rather than through a single author.

  • The development process draws on subject-level experts, classroom teachers, editors, and graphic designers, whose review and feedback shape every stage of production.

  • All attached materials and companion print titles are also developed and provided by PDP, so the digital and print resources come from the same source and reflect the same standards and biblical worldview.

What device do I need to use this?

  • Edusfere is a cloud-based platform with responsive design, so you can use it on any internet-enabled device you teach with—laptop, desktop, tablet, or smartboard—and the layout adjusts automatically to your screen size and zoom level.

Can I change a PDP lesson plan?

  • PDP lesson content cannot be edited or overwritten, as it is a digitized version of the published PDP Teacher Edition and must remain intact as the source of record.

  • However, you can Adapt a lesson to fit your classroom needs. Adapting lets you tailor an activity while keeping the original PDP content preserved and available.

  • Common reasons to adapt include supporting students with IEPs or 504 accommodations, providing vocabulary support or visual aids for English Language Learners, and adding extension activities to keep advanced learners engaged.

Where can I find PDP Teacher Resources that are referenced in the lessons?

  • Teacher resources like Learning Materials (LMs), Display Materials (DMs), and Presentation Decks (PDs) are attached to the Activity. Simply click on the file name link in the Materials list.

  • ACSI also provides a URL to downloadable PDP Teacher Resources by grade-level in the front matter of the physical Teacher Edition

Why don't the links in a game or presentation deck work?

  • Some activities include a game or interactive content as a presentation deck (PPTX). The links and buttons inside these decks only work when the presentation is running in Slide Show / Present mode—they won't respond while you're viewing or editing the deck.

  • To activate the links, open the deck and start the slideshow using the steps for your program:

    • PowerPoint (desktop): Click the Slide Show icon at the bottom-right of the window (shown below), press F5, or go to the Slide Show tab and select From Beginning or From Current Slide.

    • PowerPoint Online (in a browser): Select the Slide Show tab and click From Beginning, or use the Present / play button in the toolbar.

    • Google Slides: Click the Slideshow button at the top right of the screen (choose Start from beginning if prompted).

  • Once the deck is running in Slide Show / Present mode, the links and buttons will be clickable and work as intended.

How do I share a lesson?

  • Open the lesson you want to share and locate the Share Link button at the top right of the lesson screen.

  • Click Share Link to copy a shareable link to that lesson to your clipboard. Then paste it wherever you need—for example, in an email or message to a substitute teacher.

  • To manage the link, click Share Link again to open a pop-up menu, which includes a Deactivate Link option when it no longer needs to be accessible.

Can I delete an Activity?

  • PDP Digital is a digitized version of the published PDP Teacher Editions, so the lessons and activities are provided for you and cannot be deleted.

  • You can, however, Adapt any existing activity to fit your classroom—editing preparation and instructions, adjusting materials, adding attachments, and more—while the original PDP content stays intact as the source of record. (See “Teacher How To: Adapt a Lesson”)

Can I add a photo or image to My Profile?

  • Yes. Click the dropdown arrow next to your name to open the menu, then select View profile.

  • Hover over the image above your name and select the upload button to change your profile picture.

  • Click on the Replace button to upload an image from your computer.

  • Adjust any zoom settings, and select Save.

How can I build my own lesson plans?

  • Building your own lessons isn't available in the PDP Digital part of the platform, where content is provided as a digitized version of the PDP Teacher Editions (you can adapt those lessons, but not create new ones). Creating your own courses is available through a full Edusfere school subscription.

  • Reach out to your school administration, who can contact Edusfere to learn more.

  • With a school subscription, teachers can build their own courses, units, and lessons from scratch using the same planning structure. A school subscription also opens up additional planning and collaboration tools, such as:

    • Curriculum mapping and standards-alignment tracking across grades and subjects

    • An integrated school planner and calendar

    • Substitute plans you can share so a sub has everything they need

    • Collaboration and resource sharing across teams and departments

    • AI-assisted lesson and unit planning

    • Google integration
