Steps to ensure your Perifit training reminder notifications arrive as expected

Updated over 2 months ago

Our Perifit app is designed to help you stay on track with your training goals, and timely reminders are an important part of this support.

Make sure that notifications are enabled for the Perifit Care app:

  1. Go to your phone’s Settings > Notifications or directly to the Perifit Care app settings on your phone.

  2. Find and select Perifit Care.

  3. Ensure Allow Notifications is toggled on.

  4. iOS: Check that Banner Style is set to either Temporary or Persistent.

Open the Perifit Care app and make sure that:

  1. Training reminders are enabled in Perifit Care app > Settings > Notifications.

  2. At least 1 training day is selected in Perifit Care app > Settings > Notifications > Training days.

Ensure Perifit Care App Is Up-to-Date:

  1. Open the App Store or Google Play Store.

  2. Go to your profile and check for updates.

  3. Update the Perifit Care app if needed.

💡 Updating the app can resolve potential bugs or issues with notifications not coming through.

If it’s all set up correctly, try the troubleshooting steps below ⤵️

Notification Troubleshooting for Android

Enable Alarms & Reminders Setting

This troubleshooting step is useful for Android users with system version Android 12 or above.

  1. Long-press the Perifit Care app icon on your home screen.

  2. Tap “App info” in the pop-up menu.

  3. Select “Alarms & reminders” and toggle this setting on.

💡 With the Android 12 update, Samsung introduced a new “Alarms & reminders” setting that affects how notifications work in certain apps. By default, this setting may not be enabled, which can prevent reminders from coming through when the Perifit Care app is in the background.

Adjust Battery Usage Settings

This troubleshooting step is especially useful for Xiaomi phones.

  1. Open your phone's Settings > Apps > Perifit Care.

  2. In the Usage section, find Mobile data, Battery, and Storage.

  3. Tap Battery. Although it may not look clickable, select it to access three options: Restricted, Optimised, and Unrestricted.

  4. Choose either Optimised or Unrestricted. This setting allows Perifit to run in the background and send notifications even when the app is not open, unlike the Restricted option.

💡 Xiaomi prioritizes battery life, which may limit background app activity if the battery usage setting is “Restricted” for certain apps. This can prevent notifications when Perifit is not actively open.

Notification Troubleshooting for iOS

Adjust Background App Refresh

  1. Go to Settings > General > Background App Refresh.

  2. Make sure Background App Refresh is enabled and set to Wi-Fi & Mobile Data or Wi-Fi.

  3. Ensure that the Perifit Care app is set to allow background app refresh.

Check Do Not Disturb Mode

  1. Go to Settings > Focus > Do Not Disturb.

  2. Ensure that Do Not Disturb is turned off or set to allow notifications from the Perifit Care app.
