What is personalization?

Personalization involves storing information about your funnel visitors and incorporating that information into the text on subsequent pages. A classic example is the use of personal greetings. On the first page, you ask "What is your name?". On the second page, you then write "Hey Name, nice to meet you!"

How do I add personalization?

  1. Add a form or question block to a page in your funnel.

  2. Now, switch to a subsequent page and click on the spot in the text where you like to add a personalized greeting/message.

  3. To select a personalization option, type "@" or click on "Insert Personalization" in the left sidebar.

  4. Choose a variable from the list to insert the personalization.

  5. Choose an alternative that will be displayed in case your preferred personalization is not available to insert.

  6. Congrats, you’re all done! Once you publish your funnel, the changes will be visible, and visitors will see content on pages based on the information they provided on the pages before.

Note 💡

Make sure to add your personalization on funnel pages that visitors spend time on after they enter data into form fields on pages before.

In doing so, you make sure to always draw from a data source used to personalize your content.

What is a custom variable?

With a custom variable, you define a query parameter and add it to the URL of your funnel. The content from the URL parameter is dynamically displayed on the page every time someone visits the funnel. For example, when you define the variable "category," the URL of your funnel includes "ps_category=Sport". On your funnel’s homepage, it then shows "The perfect solution for your sport lifestyle."

How do I add custom variables?

  1. First, click on the spot in the text where you like to add a personalized greeting/message.

  2. To select a personalization option, type "@" or click on "Insert Personalization" in the left sidebar.

  3. Add a custom variable, name it, and provide an alternative text for your variable.

  4. Then, publish your funnel and add the custom variable as a UTM parameter with "ps_" in the URL.

  5. Insert the value for the UTM parameter as the word in the URL.

  6. When you open the funnel using the above described, modified URL, the value will be displayed at the designated spot in the funnel.

  7. To utilize the personalization, use different variations of your funnel’s URL.

How do I use personalization?

You can personalize your funnel in many different ways and there are no limits to your creativity. Here are a few examples:

  • Personalized greeting using the visitor’s first name or their company name.

  • Listing the information received after visitors submit a form.

  • Individualized messaging based on ad group or industry.

  • Mentioning a specific topic from an email in a linked funnel.

Note 💡

This feature is available starting from the Advanced Plan.
