Select multiple paddocks on a phone
In Crop Plan Studio, tap Select in the top bar, then tap each paddock to add it to the selection. On a narrow phone screen, the control may appear as a pointer icon without the word Select. Choose the crop or bulk action for the selected paddocks, review the scope and apply. Turn Select off when you have finished selecting.
If ordinary taps only open one paddock, turn on Select first. A phone does not need a Shift key.
To reuse a plan already on one paddock, open that paddock's plan, choose Actions → Copy this plan to other fields, then tap the destination paddocks on the map and review before applying. This copies the plan, not just its crop type.
What you can do in Crop Plan Studio
Crop Plan Studio is the primary planning workspace. Use it whenever you need to create, change, copy, apply or clear a plan for one or more paddocks. It lets you see the farm on one map, select the paddocks in scope, work across matching programs, and understand the input and cost effect before saving.
Use Map → paddock → Plan when you mainly need to view or check one paddock's plan, record completed work, or review its completed history. You can also edit one activity there when you specifically want Phase to find and offer its matching copies.
Open the right farm and season first
Desktop: select Plan in the top navigation.
Mobile: open More → Planning & Imports → Crop Plan Studio.
One paddock: open Map, select the paddock, then open Plan.
Studio plans one season at a time. Before changing anything, check the farm and season shown in Phase. If the map or plan looks empty, an incorrect farm or season is the first thing to check.
Mapped paddocks are required. If they are missing, open More → Setup & Imports → Farms & Fields and add or import them first.
Understand the Studio screen
The map is for selecting the paddocks you want to work on. The planning panel changes to show the selected paddocks, their crop and variety, grouped activities, planned nutrition, costs and gross-margin information.
The Library contains saved crop-plan templates and saved activities. Select Use, then select paddocks and choose Apply to selected paddocks. On desktop you can also drag a saved item onto the map.
The Inputs view rolls the remaining planned product demand up across the farm or current selection. Share creates a PDF or CSV for the whole farm, selected paddocks or a crop.
Changes are staged before Phase writes them to the plans. The preview bar shows which paddocks will change, what will be skipped, the input difference and the estimated cost difference. Nothing in the preview is applied until you confirm it.
Build a plan from scratch
Step 1 — Open Plan and confirm the season.
Step 2 — Select one paddock on the map. To give several paddocks the same program, select all of them before adding the crop or activities.
Step 3 — Assign the crop and variety. If the selected paddocks need different crops, work with one crop group at a time.
Step 4 — Select Add activity. Choose the activity type and give the job a clear name, such as “Pre-seeding knockdown” rather than “Spray 1”.
Step 5 — Add the timing window. Use a start and end date when the job can happen over several days.
Step 6 — Add each product with its rate and unit. For spray activities, also check the water rate. Add notes that an operator or adviser will need to understand the job.
Step 7 — Save the activity. Phase stages the activity for every selected paddock.
Step 8 — Read the change preview. Check the paddock names, total hectares, products, rates, input change and estimated cost.
Step 9 — Apply the change, then open one or two affected paddocks and check the result.
For example, if North 1, North 2 and North 3 all need the same knockdown, select those three paddocks before adding it. Phase creates the activity on those three plans without making you enter it three times.
Edit a grouped activity in Studio
Studio groups the same planned job across the selected paddocks. Expand an activity to change its name, timing, water rate, application details, notes or product rates.
Step 1 — Select the paddocks that should be in scope.
Step 2 — Expand the activity in the planning panel.
Step 3 — Change the activity detail or product rate and select Save edits.
Step 4 — Review the preview. It shows the paddocks with that matching activity and the input and cost effect of the change.
Step 5 — Apply only when the target paddocks and values are correct.
The selection matters. If one paddock is an exception, leave it out of the selection before editing the grouped activity. This is useful when most paddocks share a program but one has a different rate, product or timing.
Each product row has a pencil menu. Choose Replace with another product… to swap the product and rate in place, or Delete from this activity to remove it. If search cannot find the product, Add “name” as a new product can add it to Inventory for reuse, or leave it as a name-only plan line when you untick that choice. Review the old and new requirement and cost in the preview before applying.
While a template, saved activity, copied plan or carried-forward season is being applied, Phase shows progress over the map and prevents a second apply. The paddocks deselect when the write finishes, so the next template starts with a clean selection. Rate and product editing keeps the current selection.
Clear plans from one or more paddocks
Use Crop Plan Studio to remove planned work without copying a replacement plan over the top.
Step 1 — Open Plan and confirm the farm and season.
Step 2 — Select every paddock whose plan should be cleared.
Step 3 — Select Actions. For one paddock, choose Clear this field's plan…. For several paddocks, choose Clear plans on N fields….
Step 4 — Read the confirmation. Check the season, affected paddocks, the number of completed passes Phase will keep, the input totals being removed and any selected paddocks Phase will leave untouched.
Step 5 — Confirm the clear only when the list is correct.
This action is for planned work in the selected season. It keeps completed work, its products and costs, even when a paddock also has work still planned. Paddocks with no plan or no planned work are not counted as cleared, and Phase identifies any protected, unaffected or failed paddocks. Use Select all planned paddocks on the empty-selection overview to clear planned work across the farm. While you remain in Studio, Undo can restore the clear.
Do not use Copy plan → Replace plan just to remove plans. Replace is for applying a different plan to the destination paddocks; Actions → Clear plans… is the direct removal workflow.
When Phase asks “Apply edits to matching activities?”
This prompt appears when you edit an open activity from an individual paddock's Plan sheet and the same planned job existed on other paddocks before you edited it.
Phase identifies matching activities by their activity type, activity name, water rate, and product, adjuvant and conditioner lines—including each product's rate and unit. Extra spaces and capital letters in the activity name do not create a different match. The other activity must be Active or Planned and in the same selected season. Completed activities are not included.
The candidates are captured before your edit. This means Phase can still find the other copies after you change the original product or rate.
For example, six paddocks may all have “Pre-seeding knockdown” with Glyphosate at 1.5 L/ha. If you change one copy to 1.8 L/ha, Phase remembers the five activities that matched the original 1.5 L/ha job and asks whether they should receive the edit too.
In the prompt:
Matching paddocks are pre-selected.
Untick any paddock that should remain different.
Leave Copy product and equipment changes selected when added, removed or edited product and equipment lines should also be copied.
Clear that option when only the activity details—such as timing, water rate or notes—should be copied.
Select Apply to … fields to update the selected matches.
Select Not now to keep the edit only on the paddock you already changed.
Always read the paddock list before applying. A matching activity can have a different planned date because the matching check is based on the job and product setup, not its date. This lets you update a common product or rate without losing paddock-specific timing, but a timing edit will also be copied if you confirm it.
Change a product or rate safely
Step 1 — Decide whether the change is for one paddock, a selected group, or every matching copy.
Step 2 — Check the product identity and rate unit before entering the new value. A change from mL/ha to L/ha is not just a number change.
Step 3 — In Studio, select only the paddocks that should change and edit the grouped activity. In a paddock Plan sheet, edit one activity and use the matching-activities prompt.
Step 4 — Review the new total requirement and estimated cost. If they look unexpectedly large or small, cancel and check the paddock area, rate and unit.
Step 5 — Apply the change and spot-check at least one normal paddock and any exception paddock.
Product and rate changes affect inventory demand. Open Inventory → Demand, or Inputs in Studio, to review the new requirement and likely stock shortfall.
Start from last season
Select Start from last season when this season largely follows a previous program.
Step 1 — Choose the source season.
Step 2 — Review each crop group and which paddocks are included.
Step 3 — Choose what each old crop becomes this season.
Step 4 — Leave Carry program selected only where the activities should also be copied. If the crop changes, build or apply the new program instead.
Step 5 — Preview the carry-forward before applying it.
Carried work is planned work. Review dates, products, rates, varieties and costs for the new season rather than assuming last season is still correct.
If Add Activity is missing
Every active employee receives crop-plan editing access by default. Employees can create and edit plans and activities, copy activities, copy a whole selected-season plan, save a paddock's whole season as a template, and apply (or “paste”) that template to another paddock without re-entering the work.
This access is limited to crop-plan authoring. It does not grant farm-setup changes, inventory administration or John Deere Reconcile rights.
After a permissions release, refresh Phase or sign out and back in. Confirm that you are in the correct farm and season, your employee membership is active, and the farm's subscription or trial is active. If editing controls are still missing, contact Phase support and include your name, farm, affected paddock, selected season and a screenshot.
Add products to an activity
When adding or editing an activity, add the products you plan to use. Check:
Product name
Rate
Unit
Total requirement
Water rate where relevant
If the product does not exist yet, add it in Inventory or create it from the product picker where available.
Copy a program or activity
Use Studio to select the source program and destination paddocks, then preview the result before applying it. Where a destination already has work, use the merge, replace or skip choice shown in the preview.
You can also copy from one paddock sheet:
Step 1: Open the source paddock's Plan.
Step 2: Select Copy for one activity, or Copy/save template → Copy plan for the whole selected-season plan.
Step 3: Choose the destination paddocks and the existing-plan behaviour.
Step 4: Apply the change and review the destination status.
Keep existing leaves an existing same-season plan unchanged. Replace plan deletes its current plan content before copying. Merge activities keeps the current plan and appends the copied activities.
Direct copying preserves the plan dates, activity details, products, equipment links, rates, cost per hectare, plan-price overrides and preferred storage. When creating or replacing a destination plan it also copies crop, variety, target yield and target price. Merge keeps the destination plan's existing header values and appends activities without deduplication.
Copied activities become active planned work; completed status and completed-work history are not copied. After copying, check the destination status list for Applied, Kept or Failed, then retry only failed fields.
Save and apply templates
Use a crop template for a reusable multi-activity program and an activity template for one repeatable job.
Step 1: Open Crop Plan Studio and check the selected season and source paddock's plan.
Step 2: Select the source paddock and choose Actions → Save plan as a template. You can also open More → Templates to build one from scratch.
Step 3: Check the suggested crop-and-season or activity name, change it if needed, then save the template.
Step 4: Apply it from the Studio Library or More → Templates, select the destination paddocks, and review the existing-plan choice.
This saves all activities and product lines from that paddock's selected-season plan, so they can be reused on another paddock or in a later season.
Templates are reusable setup patterns. Applied templates do not preserve target yield, target price, plan-price overrides, assigned machines, preferred storage or some field-specific settings; activity due dates are cleared and line-item cost per hectare is reset. Set dates, reassign equipment and review pricing on the destination plans after applying.
Copy and paste in Phase
Phase does not use the device clipboard for crop plans. When someone says “paste”, use Copy, Copy plan or Apply to fields inside Phase so paddock, season, activity and product links stay connected.
Import a crop plan PDF
Open More → Planning & Imports → Crop Plan Import and upload an Agworld report PDF. A Planned Season report becomes crop plans. A Farm Performance report becomes completed season history. Phase detects the report type and lets you switch it before importing.
Stay on the page while Phase reads the rendered report pages. It checks extracted figures against the report's printed totals and automatically reads a paddock again when the numbers do not reconcile. Then review paddock matching—the main decision the importer needs—and confirm the result. Products link automatically by name where possible; an unmatched product can still import with its printed name, rate and cost.
Imported crop plans should always be reviewed before relying on them.
Planned work and completed work
The Plan tab shows planned activities.
When work is done, open one activity and mark it complete. Review its date, operator, weather, products, actual rates or quantities and inventory choice before saving. If Phase finds the same open job on other paddocks, it can then offer Mark same job on other fields?. Review the suggested paddocks and untick any exceptions before marking those matching activities done.
Completed John Deere machine work is reviewed separately from Inventory -> Reconcile. Reconcile lets you compare completed machine work against planned activities before saving records into Phase.
How crop plans connect to inventory
Products and rates in crop plans feed into inventory demand. This helps Phase estimate how much product is required and whether you may be short on stock.
To review requirements, open Inventory -> Demand.
Studio also shows input requirements calculated from remaining planned work and current stock. Use it to review required quantities, likely shortfalls and estimated input cost. Check the underlying rates, units, paddock areas, prices and stock records before ordering.
Costs, nutrition and gross margins
Studio can roll up crop allocation, planned nutrition, input costs and gross margins across the farm. Gross-margin scenarios can use the saved crop price, target or budget yield, and historic yield values. Budget values feed the Financial Performance view.
Treat these as planning estimates. Check crop prices, yield assumptions, product prices and paddock areas before relying on the result.
Review evidence for one paddock
When one paddock is selected, Studio can show supporting soil, yield and history tabs. Use these records to review the plan, but confirm agronomic decisions with the appropriate professional advice.
The Spatial shortcut opens the zone-map workspace for the selected paddock. Spatial is a Phase Ultra feature and is still marked In development.
Share a plan
Select Share to export or send a plan as PDF or CSV. Choose the scope—whole farm, current selection or crop—and whether to include costs, nutrition and inputs. Review the preview and recipients before sending an email PDF.
In a season-plan PDF, every program starts on a fresh page. Paddocks with an identical grouped program stay together on that program's page, making individual programs easier to print or hand to an operator.
After applying or importing important changes, verify a sample of paddocks in the paddock sheet before relying on the plan in the field.
If demand looks wrong, check:
Selected season
Paddock area
Product rate
Rate unit
Copied plans
Duplicate activities
Recommendations
Use the Recommendations tile on Overview to manage recommendations across the farm. Open it to switch between:
Inbox — waiting for a decision
In plan — already added to a crop plan
Done & ignored — completed, rejected or ignored recommendations kept as a record
An ignored or knocked-back recommendation can be opened from Done & ignored and Restored to the Inbox. Select + on the tile, or New recommendation in the management view, choose the paddock and write the recommendation. Phase then opens that paddock's composer directly.
You can still open Map, tap a paddock, choose Plan, then New Reco. Creating recommendations is shown only when your farm access allows it.
Tips for clean crop plans
Check the season before adding activities.
Use consistent product names.
Check units carefully, especially L/ha, mL/ha, kg/ha and L/t.
Review copied plans paddock by paddock.
Keep planned and completed work separate.
Use Reconcile for completed John Deere work.
Link products to inventory so demand can calculate correctly.
If a crop plan does not look right
Check the selected season, selected paddock, product units, copied activities and whether completed work is sitting in Reconcile rather than Plan.
If you are still stuck, open More → Help chat. Include the farm, paddock, season and a screenshot. If Help chat will not open, use More → Email Phase support.
Start fresh while keeping paddock boundaries
To remove work records, including completed work, use More → Organisation → Delete work records. Choose the property and season scope, select the work categories and review the deletion summary before confirming. The whole company account scope is available. Farms, fields and paddock boundaries are kept. Large cleanups can take around 10 minutes.
Another way to restart a season is to delete that season and recreate it. Check what will be removed before confirming. Delete work records clears the selected work categories; it does not mean every type of data in Phase is removed.
See units of N applied versus planned
Open Map → paddock → Plan → Nutrition, or view nutrition in Plan Studio. Applied shows nutrients from recorded completed work; Planned shows the crop plan. Nitrogen (N) is shown in kg/ha, with total applied kilograms also shown in the paddock view. Check the selected season. Products without nutrient analysis are excluded from applied totals and flagged with a warning.
