Assign a Default Template to a Record

How to assign a default Elements app template to a record

Assigning default templates to records streamlines and standardizes the export process. It ensures that information associated with a particular record exports to a specific design and layout with any applicable conditional formatting applied. Default templates save time and maintain consistency.

Once a template has been created, you have the option to set it as a default for a record in the corresponding table. Navigate to the Template field and select the template name from the dropdown choices. Once applied to a record, elements will automatically display as the default template.

Please note: Once a new template is created in the Elements app, an Admin must add the template name as a Template field choice option. The choice name and template name must match exactly.

Assign a default template to multiple records:

The Update All feature can be used to assign a default template in bulk to several or all records in a view.

1.

Choose the desired records (using filters, saved views or manual selection)

2.

In the table, double click into the Template field cell of one of the selected records

3.

Choose the template name from the dropdown

4.

To the right of the template name, click the clipboard icon

5.

Click Update selected records

6.

From the pop up window, click OK

Once a template is assigned to a record, elements will automatically display as the default template and be ready for export. You can preview within the Elements app side panel or within the fully expanded Elements app window.
