How to reuse design layouts inside other templates in the Elements app
Nested templates let you embed one template inside another in the Elements app. They are especially useful when you want to show or hide content based on your data or organize designs in a modular way.
Nested Templates help you:
Display dynamic content using conditional layers.
Insert reusable design layouts inside other templates.
Keep your workspace clean by using fewer templates with more flexibility.
Insert a Nested Template
Open the template you want to edit in the Elements app.
At the bottom right of the screen, click Insert nested template area.
Choose where to place the nested template—inside a conditional layer or anywhere in the layout.
Assign conditional logic, if necessary.
Select which template from your workspace to insert using the dropdown.
Things to Keep in Mind
A template can’t be nested within itself.
If no valid templates are available, the Insert Nested Area button will be disabled.
The nested template uses the same record as the main template.
You may notice a small delay (1–2 seconds) when rendering nested templates due to extra data loading.
The nested template displays inside the defined nested area, keeping its aspect ratio.
Nested Templates in Action
A use case example for nested templates could be seen in the following deal announcement. The nested template is housing the following tombstone data:
The deal announcement below includes the nested tombstone template, seen above, and therefore, pulls it's contents in to better display and share information on the deal:
Pro tip: when applicable, you can hide nested templates so end users do not see the nested template name in the export dropdown.
