Seasonal or rolling: which should you choose?
Before members can join, Set the Season asks how your club operates.
Seasonal fits a club with a clear start and end date, like a school term or league season.
Rolling fits a club where members can join and pay year round, with no end date.
This choice affects how membership pricing behaves later in Open Your Business, so it is worth getting right the first time, though you can change it later.
Setting it up
Tap Begin on the Set the Season card.
Choose "Yes, we have a season" or "No, we don't have a season." Yes is selected by default.
Tap Next, then choose how members join: "Require admin approval" or "Anyone can join."
If you chose a season, enter a season name and set start and end dates. If you did not, this screen is skipped entirely.
Tap Complete. A confirmation screen summarises everything you chose.
The step is marked complete with a green tick once you confirm.
Note: Rolling clubs do not have an end date, so memberships and subscriptions will not expire. For clubs with a set season, the season end date cannot be set in the past.
What "require admin approval" means
If you choose this, every membership application must be manually reviewed and approved by an admin before that person gains access. If you choose "Anyone can join" instead, members get in without any review. This rule applies club-wide, it is not something you can set per group.
Editing after completion
Tap the edit icon on the completed Set the Season card. Your previous choices are pre-filled, and changes take effect immediately.
FAQ
What happens to my existing settings if I switch from seasonal to rolling?
Your season name and dates are cleared, and your confirmation screen updates to reflect a rolling, open-ended club.
Does changing this later affect memberships I've already set up?
It can. Changing your season settings after memberships are configured may affect how those memberships are priced, so PLAI will prompt you to review your memberships if you make this change later.
