How the Plasma One tier system works

Overview

Plasma One has three tiers: Lite, Core, and Platinum. Every new user starts on Lite. Upgrading to a higher tier unlocks better cashback rates, lower fees, and more perks.

You can view your current tier and track your progress toward the next one from the Tiers tab in the app.

Your cashback rates and perks are tied to your tier, not your card. All cards on your account benefit from your current tier regardless of which card you use to spend.

The three tiers

Lite

Lite is the free starting tier, available to everyone. You get a virtual card, a USD account, the ability to earn cashback on eligible card spend and can work your way toward Core by earning or buying XPL.

Activating your virtual card on Lite

In most regions, you'll need to deposit $10 into your Plasma One account before you can activate your Lite card. This is not a fee — the $10 stays in your balance and you can spend it as soon as your card is activated.

In some regions, a $10 card fee applies instead. Whether the $10 is a funding requirement you can spend later or an upfront fee depends on your region, and this is clearly shown in the app before you activate your card.

Core & Platinum memberships do not have this requirement.

Core

Core is the first paid tier. It gives you higher cashback rates, lower fees, AI subscription credits, priority support, and more.

To access Core you can either:

  • Pay an annual subscription of $199, or

  • Lock 20,000 XPL for 12 months

Platinum

Platinum is the premium tier, built for users who want to get the most out of Plasma One. It gives you the highest cashback rates, no added Plasma fees, premium AI benefits, Visa Infinite benefits, and VIP support.

Platinum currently requires locking 100,000 XPL for 12 months.

How upgrades work

To upgrade your tier, go to the Tiers tab in the app and tap on the progress bar. You will see the requirements and costs for each tier clearly laid out before you commit.

Upgrading via XPL lock requires a 12-month commitment. Your XPL is locked for the full 12 months and cannot be unlocked early.

Upgrading via USD subscription is billed annually from your USD cash balance.

How downgrades work

Your tier is active for as long as your lock or subscription is valid. At the end of your 12-month period, if you do not renew your lock or subscription, your account moves back to Lite automatically.

Currently, you cannot manually downgrade your tier before your lock or subscription period ends.
