Overview
Your cashback rates are tied to your tier, not your card. All cards on your account benefit from your current tier regardless of which card you use to spend.
Every time you make an eligible purchase with your Plasma card, you earn cashback paid in XPL directly to your XPL balance. The rate you earn depends on your tier and how much you have spent that month.
Cashback is calculated at the point your transaction settles or is captured, not when it is authorised.
Types of cashback
There are four types of cashback on Plasma:
Base cashback: Earned on all eligible card purchases, at rates that vary by tier and monthly spend band
AI cashback: A boosted rate earned on purchases at eligible AI merchants. Where AI cashback applies, it replaces base cashback rather than stacking on top
Airline cashback: A boosted rate earned on purchases with eligible airlines (Platinum only). Where airline cashback applies, it replaces base cashback rather than stacking on top
Referral cashback: Earned on purchases made by friends you have referred, for a set period after they join

Does cashback stack?
No. Cashback does not stack at the moment. This means that if more than one cashback rate could apply to the same purchase, you do not earn them added together. For example, if a purchase qualifies for both base cashback and AI cashback, you do not receive both on top of each other.
Instead, you will always get the higher of whatever cashback applies. So for any eligible purchase, Plasma works out which rates you qualify for and pays you at the best one. You never lose out by qualifying for more than one type.
When cashback is paid out?
Cashback is currently paid out weekly (currently on Thursdays) to your XPL balance. Rewards may remain pending for several days after a transaction posts and vest only at the end of the pending period. Payout timing may change.
In your transaction history, each transaction shows a cashback state:
Accruing: The transaction has settled and cashback is building toward your next payout
Next payout: Cashback for this transaction is included in your upcoming weekly payout
Completed: Cashback has been paid to your XPL balance
Amounts shown before payout are estimates. Cashback accrues in USD and is converted to XPL at the exchange rate at payout, so the XPL amount you receive depends on the XPL price at that time.
What does not earn cashback
Not all transactions earn cashback. The following are some examples of what is eligible:
ATM withdrawals
P2P transfers
Currency exchange
Tax payments
Gift cards and cash equivalents
Gambling and quasi-cash
Crypto purchases and sales
Wires
Balance transfers
Cash advances
Balance payments
Affiliated merchants
Manufactured spend
Declined transactions
Reversed transactions
Refunded transactions
Chargebacks

Rates, amounts, limits, eligible merchants and perks are the parameters currently in effect. They are variable and may change prospectively in accordance with the Plasma One Rewards Addendum.
