Everything you need to know about the PodRoll prefix links

Sellers

For Sellers: The prefix link gives the PodRoll system the ability to deploy approved and relevant feed drops in your feed and enables your podcast to earn revenue for every listen that occurs for that promoted episode.

Adding the Prefix Link:

Each show's prefix link is listed in the 'Podcasts' section under "RSS Prefix for Feed Drops". After the podcast is added to the account, PodRoll will check the public RSS feed to ensure it is added. If it is properly added to the RSS feed, the PodRoll prefix will have a green icon next to it.

The feed drop prefix is unique in that it is not added in your hosting platform. Instead, it is added to the RSS feed that is directly submitted to Apple Podcast and Spotify.

Buyers

The PodRoll prefix link is unique to each podcast RSS feed and works with all other prefixes. It is optional for buyers. Each show's prefix link is generated when a RSS feed is uploaded to an account.

For Buyers: The prefix link adds insights to the success of your PodRoll campaign. With the prefix link, PodRoll can calculate listener conversion. PodRoll defines conversion as a listener receiving a PodRoll and subsequently visiting that podcast's RSS feed organically. The prefix link also informs podcasters which PodRoll campaign their new followers come from.

Please wait 1-2 hours for the status to update after adding the prefix link to the RSS feed. Your podcast will also be reviewed in accordance with the Content Guidelines.

Note: You can add multiple prefix links even if your hosting platform "limits" the amount that can be added.

Some hosting platforms claim to only offer the ability to enter a “single” prefix link. This just means you have to concatenate multiple prefix links together to create a single valid prefix for the platform. In most cases, you only need “https://” to appear once at the beginning of the prefix. Below is an example on how to combine multiple prefixes into one.

If you have a special case that requires unencrypted http traffic, the https:// protocol can be placed within the URLs, please reach out to PodRoll support for special cases or assistance with prefixes.
