Transitioning from Universal Analytics (UA) to GA4 in Polar Analytics

With the discontinuation of Universal Analytics (UA) on July 1, 2024, Google has permanently disabled access to the UA interface and API, and all historical UA data will be permanently deleted.

Polar is no longer able to connect to Universal Analytics to retrieve historical data.

If you connected your UA account to Polar before July 1, 2024 this setup enables you to retain your UA historical data while ensuring that your new GA4 data integrates smoothly without overlapping data, letting you choose when Polar should start using GA4 data exclusively.

Set Up Start and End Dates for Your Google Analytics Connectors

If both your UA and GA4 connectors were added to Polar before July 1, 2024, you can configure Start and End Dates to control which data is pulled from each source. For example, you may set an end date for UA to specify when data collection stops, and a start date for GA4 to indicate when it begins. This helps Polar Analytics manage data chronologically and accurately without overlap.

  1. Enable the Start/End Date toggle under your Google Analytics settings.

  2. Choose dates for both UA and GA4 connectors based on when you began using GA4 exclusively. For example, set:

    • End Date for UA: The last day UA data should be used.

    • Start Date for GA4: The first day GA4 data should be pulled.

This setup ensures that metrics like Conversion Rate, which depend on your Sessions data, are calculated with the correct dataset.
