Copilot launched in October 2026 and is on for every Poppy customer, on any board you can edit.
Where to find Copilot
Open any board.
Click the sparkle icon at the top of the right toolbar. It has a small NEW tag on it.
The Copilot panel opens on the side of your board. Drag its edge to make it wider. Click the icon again or press Esc to close it.
You will not see the button on a board you cannot edit: a public board you are only viewing, a template, or an older version of a board you are previewing.
What Copilot can do
Understand your board
Tell you what is on the board and summarize it
Read your videos, links, notes, documents and images, including the pictures themselves
Check your credit balance and usage
Research for you
Search Poppy's content library for breakout reels and carousels, creators to study, and a creator's top posts
Find a brand's ads in the ads library
Look up what is trending on a topic
Search the web, with the sources it used shown under the answer (turn this on in the + menu)
Search your Vaults
Build and organize your board
Add links, videos, notes and search results to the board
Create groups, move things in and out of groups, ungroup
Create an AI chat and connect items to it, or disconnect them
Rename items, rewrite a note, add labels
Tidy and arrange the board, or bring an item into view
Place one of your Vaults (or a group from it) on the board, still linked to the Vault
Delete items. Copilot always asks you to confirm before it deletes anything.
Create
Mind maps, and edits to an existing mind map
Images, up to 10 in one request
Carousels of 2 to 10 slides
Content projects (scripts) if Content Studio is available on your account
Copilot works on the board you have open. It does not run your other AI chats for you, and you cannot upload files to it. Drop files onto the board instead, then ask Copilot about them.
How to use it
Start with a suggestion or type your own
When you open Copilot you get a few starters: What's on this board?, Find the strongest hook, Find breakout posts, Find creators to study, A creator's top posts, A brand's best ads. On an empty board you also get Plan this board. Or just type what you want. Enter sends, Shift + Enter adds a new line.
Example prompts:
"Create a group of AI YouTube videos and a group of Instagram AI founder reels, then a new chat connected to both."
"Show me @hormozi's best posts on Instagram and add the top 5 to the board."
"Turn the notes in the Launch group into a mind map."
"Make a 6-slide carousel from the framework in this board, minimalist black and white."
Point Copilot at specific items
Click an item on the board and it is attached to your next message as a chip above the text box. Shift-click to add more, up to 12. Click empty canvas to clear them.
Or click + and choose Choose an item to pick from a list of what is on the board.
Search the web
Click + and turn on Search the web. A "Web search" chip shows in the box while it is on, and it stays on for your next messages until you turn it off.
Answers that used the web show a Sources row underneath with the sites it used.
Quick adds
A message that only says "add [link]" or "add a note saying …" is added to the board straight away, without using the AI, so it costs no credits.
After a reply
Hover a reply to Copy it or rate it with thumbs up / thumbs down. Ratings go to our team and help us improve Copilot.
While Copilot is working you can press Stop. Anything it already finished stays on the board.
Undo and redo
Every change Copilot makes is one undo step. Press Cmd + Z (Ctrl + Z on Windows) on the board to take it back, and Cmd + Shift + Z to redo.
The latest reply also has an Undo button that reverses everything that reply did, then a Redo button.
If you or a teammate changed the board after that reply, Undo says "The board has changed since, so I left it as it is." Use Cmd + Z, or Version Control to go back to an earlier version.
Before deleting, Copilot asks "Hold up, you sure you wanna delete this? 👀" with Keep and Delete. Deleting a group deletes everything inside it. You can undo it right after.
Your saved chats
Every Copilot conversation is saved to the board it happened on. Click History in the panel header to reopen one. The 50 most recent chats on that board are listed, newest first.
Saved chats are yours. Teammates on the same board cannot see your Copilot chats, and you cannot see theirs.
The trash icon deletes a chat permanently. There is no confirmation and no way to get it back.
Credits
Copilot runs on Claude (Sonnet 5) and uses credits the same way an AI chat on your board does: the more it has to read and write, the more credits a reply uses. There is no separate Copilot limit and no extra plan needed.
Web search adds 1 credit per search on top of the reply, up to 5 searches in one reply. It only searches when you have turned on Search the web.
Images and carousels made by Copilot cost the same as in Image Generation and Carousels. Copilot makes them right away without asking first.
Quick adds (add a link, add a note) are free.
If you press Stop, you are still charged for the work it had already finished.
On a team board, credits come from the team's pool. See Team Accounts.
Copilot always runs on Poppy's AI, so it uses Poppy credits even if you have added your own API key to your account.
When you run out, Copilot says "You're out of credits for now. Top up and I'm all yours! ✨". Buy more credits with the Upgrade button or wait for your reset on the 1st. For how credits work, see Understanding Credits.
Copilot on team boards
Anyone on the team can use Copilot on a team board.
When Copilot (or an AI connected through MCP) changes a board, teammates who have it open see a small badge in the top right for a few seconds, such as "Copilot · Added 2 items", so nobody is surprised by things appearing.
Connected apps (rolling out)
We are gradually rolling out the ability for Copilot to work inside your other apps: pulling stats and posting to Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, Facebook and X, reading ad campaign performance, and reading your Notion, Google Drive, Zoom, Fathom, Grain, Dropbox, Canva, Gmail, Slack and Google Calendar.
This is not available to everyone yet. If you do not see an Apps button (a plug icon) in the Copilot header, your account does not have it yet, and Copilot cannot connect to or post on your social accounts. When it is on for you, Copilot always asks before posting, scheduling or pausing anything.
Using Copilot from Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor
The same board tools are available over MCP, so you can build and search your boards from Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code or Cursor.
Click your profile picture, go to Developer, then Poppy AI MCP for the setup steps. Claude and ChatGPT connect by signing in to Poppy. Claude Code and Cursor need an API key from Settings → API keys. This needs an active Poppy plan.
Errors: what they mean and what to do
"Hmm, I lost my train of thought. Give it another go! 👀"
The reply failed partway, usually a dropped connection or a very long request. Send the message again. If you asked for a lot in one go (for example six scripts), split it into smaller requests.
"The board did not answer in time, so nothing was changed. Try again." or "The board is still loading. Try again."
The board tab was busy or still opening. Wait a moment and ask again. Nothing was changed.
"That change could not be made on the board. Try again."
The edit was rolled back, so the board is as it was. Try once more. If it keeps happening, do a hard refresh (see General Troubleshooting) and try again.
"This board is view-only, so it cannot be changed."
You can read this board but not edit it, so Copilot cannot either. Ask the owner for edit access, or duplicate the board.
"The board is showing an older version right now. Go back to the current one to edit."
You are previewing a past version in Version Control. Return to the current version first.
"I can't open this board. Double check you have access! 👀"
Copilot could not read the board under your login. Make sure you are logged in with the email that owns the board or is on its team.
"You're out of credits for now. Top up and I'm all yours! ✨"
Your credits are used up for the month. Buy more or wait for the reset on the 1st.
"That is more than 10 images: ask for fewer at a time."
Copilot makes at most 10 images per request. Ask again with 10 or fewer.
"… limit reached (10 per minute). Try again in a minute." or "Try again tomorrow."
Live lookups (live search, a creator's posts, finding a creator) have limits per person: 10 a minute and 100 a day for live search. Searching Poppy's content library, the board and the web is not limited this way.
"This needs an active Poppy subscription."
Live search and pulling a creator's posts need a paid plan.
"Couldn't load your chats. Give it another go! 👀"
History did not load. Close and reopen the panel.
"Your browser blocked the sign-in window. Allow pop-ups and try again!"
Only for connected apps. Allow pop-ups for app.getpoppy.ai and click Connect again.
Common questions
Q: Is Copilot the same as the AI chat on my board?
A: No. A board chat answers using the items you connect to it. Copilot can see the whole board, go and find new content, and change the board for you. Use Copilot to build and organize, and board chats to write and work with specific sources.
Q: Does Copilot see everything on my board?
A: Yes. It can read every item on the open board. Select items or use Choose an item to focus it on specific ones.
Q: Can Copilot post to my Instagram, TikTok or LinkedIn?
A: Not yet for most accounts. Connected apps are rolling out gradually. If there is no Apps button in the Copilot header, it is not on for you yet.
Q: Why doesn't Copilot write my scripts?
A: Writing content projects through Copilot needs Content Studio on your account. Without it, ask Copilot to create a chat connected to your sources and write the script in that chat.
Q: Copilot found the wrong creator.
A: Spelling matters for creator names. Paste the profile link or the exact @handle and ask again.
Q: Can I turn Copilot off or hide the button?
A: No. It only does something when you open it and ask, and it never changes a board on its own.
Q: Does Copilot remember my earlier chats?
A: Each chat is saved under History on that board, and you can continue it. A new chat starts fresh from what is on the board. Chats are per board, so Copilot on one board does not know about your chats on another.
Q: Can I use Copilot on my phone?
A: Poppy is built for desktop. Copilot is on the board page, so it will load on a phone browser, but we recommend a computer.
Q: Can Copilot undo its own changes if I ask it to?
A: No. Use the Undo button on the reply, or Cmd + Z on the board.
Q: Which AI model does Copilot use, and can I change it?
A: Copilot runs on Claude Sonnet 5 and the model cannot be changed. You can still pick any model inside the AI chats on your board.
Quick tips
Ask for the whole job in one message. "Two groups and a chat connected to both" lands in one go and is one undo step.
Select first, then ask. Clicking the items you mean saves Copilot from guessing.
Use quick adds for the small stuff. "add a note saying film the gym series Monday" is instant and free.
Turn web search off when you are only working with what is on the board, so you are not paying for searches you do not need.
Rate the replies. Thumbs up and down go straight to our team.
