When building a Service or MPS Agreement in PREO, you will have three options;
New
Add
Replace/Rewrite
If you are unsure of which option to choose based on your situation, follow the guidelines laid out below.
New
You should use the 'New' option in the following situations:
Adding a device with a new contract (Net New Customer or Current Customer who wants a separate contract for invoicing purposes).
Adding revenue in a new revenue bucket (no prior Service/MPS contract).
Add
Use a Contract Add when:
An existing contract remains active and intact.
You are adding equipment or services to that contract.
Only part of the environment is changing, and the original contract continues with its remaining assets.
Common Scenarios:
A customer upgrades or replaces some equipment but keeps the rest of the contract unchanged.
New devices are added alongside existing ones.
Removed equipment is captured in the Pickup section, while new equipment is added on the Equipment tab.
Key Principle: The contract itself is not being replaced—it is being expanded or modified.
Replace/Rewrite
Use Rewrite/Replace when:
The entire contract is being addressed, not just individual devices.
The intent is to close out the existing contract in full and replace it with a new contract.
The resulting contract includes only the assets on the new deal.
Important Clarification: Rewrite/Replace should not be selected simply because equipment is changing. Even if machines are being removed and replaced, Rewrite/Replace is appropriate only when the full contract is being retired and reissued.
Key Principle: This is a contract-level decision, not an equipment-level one.
Regardless of the option you choose, we encourage all users to also utilize the "Comments" field to include anything that needs to explained in more detail on the agreement.
