The normal incoming goods procedure in PULPO WMS is to receive the products to the incoming position first. Afterward, the products are moved then to the storage position with a special replenishment (movement) task.

Now PULPO WMS offers an option to skip a step and store the incoming goods directly in warehouse positions of type standard, cross docking or shop.

There's another important feature of this functionality. PULPO WMS can suggest the best position based on the product tags and position tags to the users.

Enabling the setting

To enable the setting, the user needs to activate a checkbox next to "Direct Storage" in the Settings ("Incoming" section).

Option functionality

When the user receives new incoming goods, instead of selecting the incoming position, the storage position can be scanned, and the products can be stored directly in the selected position.

If the user clicks on ﹖ sign, he will first get a suggestion of the position where the products are currently stored (closest to packing).

Position suggestion

Furthermore, PULPO WMS can suggest an optimal location for the products based on the product and position tags.

To enable the suggestions, the user has to enable "Preferred positions for incoming goods and replenishment" and select a suggestion strategy:

There are 2 options:

  • Standard

  • Empty locations

just like in the previous item, to get a suggestion, the user needs to tap the the﹖symbol located next to the location field. The suggested location code will appear in the location field.

The user can accept the suggestion and go directly to the location to scan it, or can scan a different location and finish the task.

Position suggestion strategies

Standard strategy

The suggestion logic is the following:

  • If the product has the tag “X”, the position must also have this tag

  • If the product has no tag, it can be stored anywhere (in all positions even if those have tags)

  • If the product has multiple tags, the position must also have all these tags but can have more tags

  • If multiple matching positions are found, the app suggests the one closest to the packing zone

  • if no position is available with a matching product tag(s), show the best position (closest to packing) where the product is currently stored

  • if no position is available till that point, PULPO WMS simply suggests an empty position closest to the packing zone.

  • if no position is found, the app will suggest to chose the position manually.

Empty locations strategy
The suggestion logic is the following:

  • If a product has Tag “X”, the empty position must also have this Tag.

  • If a product has no tag, it can be stored anywhere (in all empty positions even if those have tags).

  • If a product has multiple tags, the empty position must also have all these tags BUT can have more tags, it would be a fit anyway.

  • If multiple empty positions were found, take the one closest to packing.

  • if no empty position is available due to the product tag, the app shows the empty position closest to packing.

  • If no positions are found now, the suggestions will fall back to the standard strategy, but in the end, instead of suggesting to chose a position manually, it will send the products to where there are already the same products

  • if no taken position is available due till that moment, the best currently occupied position (one with a minimum quantity of products stored).
