By 2026, 76% of all mobile traffic data involves watching or sharing video. Video isn’t just growing, it’s dominating. When so much social media consumption happens through video, ignoring spoken content means ignoring the majority of the conversation. Captions rarely tell the full story, descriptions are curated and thumbnails are designed to attract clicks. Speech on the other hand, reveals nuance.
So today, we are thrilled to announce that we’ve doubled down on our video analysis capabilities in TRAC to introduce Automatic Video Analysis at scale, transforming every compatible video into searchable, analysable insight instantly.
Why Video Intelligence Matters
On video-first platforms, conversations don’t just happen in captions, they happen in speech. The real signal lives in what is said, and without transcription, those conversations remain invisible.
Analysing videos ensures that no relevant conversations or mentions are missed, especially in content-heavy platforms where video is dominant.
Provides a nuanced view of the conversations taking place between individuals. For instance, an interview transcript can reveal the different perspectives of both the interviewer and the interviewee, something which is not always guaranteed from the video caption or description.
Because we are converting audio into searchable text, this makes it easier to search and analyze video content at scale, leading to more comprehensive insights. This means you can discern the sentiment, emotion, topics and entities being discussed, giving you a deeper understanding of your audience’s opinions on a specific topic.
For brands, gleaning insights into how an audience talks about your brand or products is much easier; these insights can be used to create and tailor creative and marketing strategies that resonate with a specific target audience.
Video transcription helps with influencer identification, through verbal mentions of your brand in their videos. This means you can discover key content creators in your space that you can collaborate with.
Pulsar’s video transcription service also offers multi-language support - up to 16 languages are supported, meaning you can monitor video content across different languages and regions, thus expanding your social listening capabilities across diverse markets.
Last but not least, accessibility matters! So with the addition of video transcription this makes our insights more accessible to every individual who uses TRAC, ensuring that you never miss any important information.
Video Intelligence in Pulsar
Last year, we introduced On-Demand Video Transcription, giving users the ability to selectively transcribe videos. While powerful, it required manual selection. Now, with Automatic Video Transcription, every compatible video ingested into your TRAC search is transcribed automatically. No manual submissions, no extra steps.
This means every new video instantly becomes part of your insight workflow. As transcripts are generated, you’ll unlock the full analytical power behind them: sentiment expressed in the video, emotions conveyed, languages spoken, and the key topics and entities mentioned throughout. All of this is delivered seamlessly and at scale, giving you deeper, richer video understanding without lifting a finger.
On-Demand vs Auto Video Analysis
When activating the Video-to-Text model in your TRAC search, you can choose between two options during search setup:
On-Demand Video Transcription
This option is best for targeted analysis, and therefore ideal when:
You only need specific videos transcribed.
Your search contains noise or irrelevant content.
You’re analysing focused content like product reviews.
This control allows for precision and curated insight extraction.
Automatic Video Transcription
This option is best for comprehensive monitoring at scale, and therefore ideal when:
You need insight from all video content in your search.
You’re monitoring crisis events.
Tracking marketing campaigns.
Analysing interviews or broader industry conversations.
Automatic transcription eliminates manual steps and ensures every video contributes to your insight workflow.
Note: Transcriptions operate within your monthly allowance. Once reached, transcription pauses until your allowance resets or additional hours are purchased.
What analysis is available for transcribed videos?
With Video Transcripts, there’s even more text to analyze! And with more text comes more intelligence. This means you get a complete picture of the actual conversation happening around your topic – and more accurate insights from the multiple data analysis models we run in the background on each transcript.
Below is a breakdown of the additional analysis you can expect from transcribed videos:
Sentiment Analysis: Gain a deeper understanding of the sentiment expressed in videos, allowing for more accurate brand perception and consumer sentiment analysis.
Emotion Analysis: Discover new emotions hidden in the transcript, which otherwise weren’t available.
Language Analysis: We’ll now have even more text to analyze, which will improve the language analysis for each post. To begin with, we’ll support 16 languages with more coming in early 2025. The supported languages are: English, Spanish, Hindi, Japanese, Russian, Ukrainian, Swedish, Chinese, Portuguese, Dutch, Turkish, French, German, Indonesian, Korean and Italian
Entities Analysis: Discover even more People and Organisations spoken about in social videos.
Topics Analysis: Learn more about the Topics that have been mentioned, which were likely missed off the content’s title or description.
