Overview

TRAC’s Video Transcription service allows you to transcribe videos shared on the most popular social media platforms and analyze the content of those videos. This broadens the scope of our audience intelligence solution and allows you to turn the vast amount of video content on social platforms like X, Instagram Youtube & Facebook into valuable insights.

Subscribing to Video Transcription

The Video Transcription service is a premium AI model that must be purchased before it can be activated in your Team or domain. It is available in hourly packages, ranging from 5 to over 1000 hours, billed monthly. After purchase, you can monitor your hourly consumption directly from the overview dashboard in your platform’s team settings.

Please reach out to your Account Manager or Customer Success to learn more about adding this AI model to your account.

Managing Your Video Transcription Allowance

You can monitor your usage in your Team Settings > Overview page, where you can view the number of hours you purchased and how many hours you have consumed from your package. Highlighted in red is a doughnut chart, which displays the consumption in hours, minutes and seconds.

Your transcription hours and data package resets on the same day.

Email Alerts

We understand the importance of managing your usage, especially when every second counts. To ensure you keep on top of your usage and there are no surprises, you will be notified by email when you approach your monthly transcription limits. These alerts will be sent to all users who have been set up to receive usage notifications in your team, as well as your Account Manager. If you need to receive usage notifications, please check this with your Account Manager.

  2. Add a compatible data source (X, Instagram, Youtube, Facebook)

  4. Click on “Video” and select “On-Demand Video Transcription" Or "Auto Video Transcription”

  5. Click “Save and Continue” to complete search setup

  4. Click “Save and Continue” to complete search editing process

Requesting Video Transcripts

There are two ways in which video transcripts can be delivered to your TRAC search, on-demand or automatically. On-demand allows you to select the videos that you want to transcribe, whereas auto transcripts will transcribe all compatible videos that are ingested in the search automatically. The options available in the platform will depend on the Video Transcription add-on purchased, please reach out to your account manager to learn more. Video transcripts for your TRAC search can be delivered in two ways: on-demand or automatically.

  • On-demand transcription allows you to manually select the specific videos you wish to transcribe.

  • Automatic transcription will process all compatible ingested videos without manual selection.

Auto Video Transcripts

The "Auto Video Transcriptions" option, found under the Video section on the Analysis page when setting up or editing a search, automatically initiates the transcription process for any compatible video content ingested. The main advantage of this feature is the automatic transcription of videos without requiring manual submission which means you can analyse video content at scale!

This analysis is entirely automatic, transcribing videos immediately upon ingestion. Caution: Be aware that sudden increases in data collection could quickly use up your monthly video transcript hours. If you enable auto transcripts, we highly recommend setting up a KPI alert to monitor for potential data spikes in real-time.

On-Demand Transcripts

This is an on-demand service, where you have to manually curate and select the content you want to be transcribed. This approach is to ensure that you only ever transcribe the content that you deem relevant and also helps you have better control of your usage consumption.

Bulk Transcription

Currently bulk transcription supports up to 120 videos at a time. To request bulk video transcription, head to the Feed page and select up to 120 pieces of content that meet the transcription criteria. Or to quickly isolate compatible content, you can simply click on the toggle that says “only show transcribable videos” at the top of the results page (right side), as shown below:

Once you’ve isolated the videos that can be transcribed, you can then select which specific videos (up to 120) that you want to transcribe and hit the “transcribe selected videos button”, which is at the top of the results page, as shown below:

Transcribing a single piece of content

To transcribe a single piece of content, head to the Feed page and click on a result that contains a video. Or to quickly isolate compatible content, you can also simply click on the toggle that says “only show transcribable videos” at the top of the results page as shown below:

Once you’ve selected a piece of content, click on it to view the side panel, where you will see the option to transcribe that video. Hit “transcribe” and voila!

Not seeing the transcribe button? Double check the source, language and content type!

Video Transcription Analysis Page

We’ve added a new section to the Analysis page called Video Transcription Analysis. From this view, you can now easily monitor the status of all your transcription jobs; from pending to completed, all in one place. Plus, you can instantly access and review videos as soon as they’ve been transcribed, making it faster and easier than ever to work with your content.

There are 3 ways to access the Video Transcription Analysis page:

  1. Go to the Analysis Page: Search → Search Management → Analysis → Video Transcription Analysis

  2. When bulk transcribing videos - Select a compatible post → click on the transcribe button → click on “View Transcription Status”

  3. From the pop up confirmation - Once one or more videos have been validated and the transcribing begins, there’s also now a new button within the confirmation that’ll take you straight to the Transcription Analysis page where you can view the status of your transcription request.

Analysis Page Explained

In this new Page, you will get the following information:

  1. Type: Auto Transcription or Manual Transcription

  2. Initiated By: Name of the user who initiated the transcription.

  3. No. of Videos: Total videos being transcribed (up to 120 per request).

  4. Initiated on: Date and time the transcription was requested.

  5. Progress: Live updates on the status of each transcription job.

  6. Notes: Any issues encountered during bulk transcriptions will appear in the Notes column.

  7. Actions: A link to view the transcribed content in Results, or an option to retry any failed transcriptions.

Filtering for Transcripts

When a video transcript is available and has been indexed into your results, we’ll treat it as any piece of text. That means you can use Pulsar's filters to look for specific mentions within the transcript! We’ve also added a couple of handy filtering options and visuals to help find compatible content and to also isolate and find content that you've already transcribed.

Isolating transcribable content

As mentioned earlier in this article, we’ve introduced a new toggle located on the Feed, which allows you to quickly toggle the results to only show content that can actually be transcribed. This handy toggle removes the need to comb through your feed to find videos that can be transcribed and has taken into account the transcription criteria we have outlined below.

When the “only show transcribable content” toggle is applied we:

  1. Surface content that includes videos and is from compatible sources: X, Instagram, Youtube & Facebook.

  2. We exclude any quotes, reposts and replies from X.

  3. We surface content that contains videos in the languages that are supported.

Filtering for content that has been transcribed

We’ve added a new filter option in the filter panel that allows users to filter for successful and failed transcripts. Find it in Filter > Analysis > Video Transcripts.

  • Successful Transcripts: We’ve added a Green mic icon on the Feed page, which will appear alongside results metadata to identify content that has been transcribed successfully.

  • Failed Transcripts: When a video can’t be transcribed we’ll display an Orange icon with a strikethrough on the mic. There are a couple of reasons why a video couldn’t be transcribed, ranging from poor audio quality, to no audio being available. Failed transcripts will count towards the monthly allowance and this is why it is important that we give you control over what videos you transcribe, as opposed to automatically transcribing all video content.

Reasons why video transcription can fail:

  • The video contains no voice

  • The voice in the video isn’t clear

  • Too much background noise

  • Music is being played in the background

  • Video is deemed NSFW (Not Safe For Work) - NSFW is tagged by the social network, not Pulsar

Analysis and Metrics

We treat all transcripts the same way as we would any regular piece of content on TRAC. Once a transcript has been indexed and surfaced in your search results, we’ll merge the video’s caption/description with the transcript and then re-analyse the post in its entirety to make sure the analysis and metrics we’re displaying are accurate or need updating. Here’s a breakdown of the extra analysis you can expect from transcripts:

Available Analysis

  • Sentiment Analysis: Gain a deeper understanding of the sentiment expressed in videos, allowing for more accurate brand perception and consumer sentiment analysis.

  • Emotion Analysis: We’ll detect any new emotions hidden in the transcript, which otherwise weren’t available in the content title or description.

  • Language Analysis: We’ll analyse and update the language of the transcript, which will improve the language analysis for each post.

  • Entities Analysis: We’ll analyse the transcript for any additional or new entities mentioned (People and Organisations) in the video, that were not necessarily mentioned in the original video title or description.

  • Topics Analysis: We’ll analyse the transcript for any additional or new topics mentioned in the video, allowing you identify topics that were not necessarily detected in the original video title or description.

Available Metrics

When you transcribe a video, Pulsar will also perform a check on the metrics to ensure that they haven’t changed since Pulsar initially ingested the content. If there are any changes, we’ll automatically update the metrics to provide you with the most recent information.
