How to create and manage Brandset Folders
How to manage Brandset Folder permissions
Understanding Brandset Folder user permissions
What are Brandset Folders?
When your team is managing social data across multiple brands, clients, or markets, a single shared list of Brandsets quickly becomes a source of confusion. Everyone can see everything, but nothing is organised, and work from one team bleeds into another.
With Brandset Folders, you can group Brandsets by client, team, or project, invite the right people into each folder, and keep sensitive work visible only to those who need it. The result is less noise, clearer ownership, and a team that can move faster because everyone is working from the same page.
Think of Folders as shared workspaces for your team; organised by client, project, or market, with access controls that ensure everyone sees exactly what's relevant to their work. |
Who can create folders? Folder creation is available to users with SuperAdmin permissions, or users who have been specifically granted access by your account administrator.
How do I get access? Brandset Folders is a feature-flagged release. Reach out to your Account Manager to get it enabled for your domain.
Navigating the Brandsets page
The Brandsets page in CORE has been redesigned around how teams actually work. Instead of a single flat list that shows every Brandset to every user, you now get a folder-based layout with three dedicated views which removes the clutter, allowing users to see what’s relevant to them.
My Folders - This is where you can find all the folders you’ve created within CORE. You can assign Brandsets, add teammates, and update settings without jumping between screens. It gives you a clear view of how your workspace is set up.
All Folders - This is where most day to day work happens. You’ll see every folder you have access to, so it’s easy to focus on what matters to you. No need to scroll through unrelated folders.
All Brandsets - This view shows every Brandset you have access to in the domain. It’s useful for keeping everything organised and making sure nothing gets lost or overlooked.
Creating a Folder
Creating a folder is quick. If you have SuperAdmin permissions, you'll find the option in two places:
On the All Brandsets page, via the New Folder button
During the Brandset creation workflow, as part of the folder assignment step
When creating a folder, you'll be prompted to fill in the following:
Folder Name: A clear, recognisable name for the folder (e.g. "Social Listening").
Description: An optional summary of what the folder contains or who it's for.
Visibility: Add users who should have access to the brandset folder. This can always be updated later on via the edit folder workflow.
Once created, you're automatically assigned as the folder's Owner, giving you full control over its settings, members, and contents.
Managing Brandsets in Folders
Here's how Brandsets and folders work together to keep things organised with minimal effort.
Assigning a Brandset to a folder during setup
There's now a Folder Assignment step built directly into the Brandset creation workflow which allows you to assign a brandset directly into a folder you have access to. Folder assignment isn’t mandatory and can be skipped and revisited any time.
You can also review and adjust folder assignments in the Summary step before finalising your Brandset.
Assigning existing Brandsets in bulk
Already have a library of Brandsets to organise? Admins and Superadmins can add multiple Brandsets to a folder at once from the folder's settings page, making it easy to get your workspace structured quickly and with ease.
A Brandset can live in multiple folders
When the same brand or profile is relevant to more than one team or project, you don't have to choose. A single Brandset can be assigned to as many folders as needed, so every team that needs access to it has it — without duplication.
Removing a Brandset from a folder
Brandsets can be removed from a folder at any time via the folder's settings. Removing a Brandset from a folder does not delete it — it simply becomes unassigned and reappears in the All Brandsets tab. The same applies if a folder is deleted: the Brandsets inside are never lost, they just return to the unassigned pool.
Deleting a folder never deletes the Brandsets inside it. They simply become unassigned and continue to be accessible from the All Brandsets tab. |
Sharing Folders with your team
Folder owners and Superadmins can add members during folder creation or at any point afterwards via the folder's settings page. There's no cap on the number of members a folder can have, so you can bring in an entire team at once if needed.
Once added, a user will see the folder in their All Folders tab straight away with immediate access to all of the Brandsets inside, in line with their own Pulsar permissions.
The folder owner retains full control: they can add or remove members, edit folder details, and delete the folder if needed. Superadmins share this level of control across all folders in the domain. |
Permissions and what each role can do
Brandset Folders are designed to give everyone on your team exactly the access they need. They work alongside Pulsar's existing permissions structure, so there's nothing new to learn. Here's how each role interacts with folders.
Superadmin
Superadmins have full control across the entire domain. They can:
Create, edit, and delete any folder (including folders created by others)
Add or remove Brandsets from any folder
Add or remove users from any folder
View all Brandsets in the domain, assigned, unassigned, or in private folders.
Admin
Admins work within folders they've been given access to. They can:
Create new folders and access any folder they've been granted access to
Create new Brandsets and assign them to folders they have access to
Remove their own Brandsets from a folder
View unassigned Brandsets from the All Brandsets tab
Admins cannot: create, edit, or delete folders, or manage other users' access.
User
Users can access and work within the folders they've been added to. They can:
Access any folder they've been granted access to
Create Brandsets within folders they have access to
View unassigned Brandsets from the All Brandsets tab
Users cannot: create or manage folders, or remove Brandsets from folders.
Reader
Readers have view-only access throughout. They can:
View any folder they've been added to
Browse Brandsets within those folders
View unassigned Brandsets from the All Brandsets tab
Readers cannot: make any changes to folders, Brandsets, or user access.
