The Feed is one of the most important elements of TRAC when viewing your media coverage. Get to grips with it here!

Updated over a month ago

Learning Outcomes

  • Understand the purpose and functionality of The Feed.

  • Learn how to sort, tag, analyse, filter and manage your data effectively.

  • You will understand how you can use the Feed to view and sort through your media coverage.

What is the Feed?

The Feed view is a section on TRAC where you can view the content that you have collected in a search. From here you can comb through each individual media item as you would an email inbox, with options to shortlist, mark as read or unread, update or delete any content you deem irrelevant. Located at the top of the side navigation panel on TRAC the Feed view is specifically designed for communicators and therefore is the first section you see when you're in the PR & Comms view mode.

The Feed is made up of four subpages: Results, Shortlists, Trash, and Rejected.

Results

The Results page displays all the content you have collected, with the most recent items as the default sorting order. You can manage the results displayed in your Feed in a number of ways:

  • Sort content by ascending or descending order to view various metrics, such as Media Reach, Media Impressions, Social Impressions, Credibility, Circulation, Likes and so many more options.

  • Tag the social posts and media items within your dataset.

  • Add content to an existing Shortlist or curate a new Shortlist from scratch.

  • Delete content and move it to the Trash.

  • Filter your dataset and create saved filters for specific views.

  • Apply bulk actions to multiple media items such as bulk tag, bulk delete, override location, language or sentiment.

  • Export results from your feed to an excel file with a maximum of 200K results allowed per export.

πŸ’‘ Top Tip: By default, your Feed is sorted by date with the newest items shown first, but you can sort your media items to view top content based on the following metrics: Media Reach, Media Impressions, Visibility, AVE, Engagements, Impressions, Circulation, Likes, Review Rating, Credibility Score.

Shortlists

Shortlists enable you to curate content that is highly relevant to your brand, client, or topic of interest. You can use Shortlists in a number of ways:

  • Comb through key pieces of media coverage from the Feed

  • Curate and consolidate relevant content from multiple searches into one Shortlist

  • Group Content into specific folders for your Coverage Reports

  • Shortlist items directly from the Mobile App.

Trash

"The Trash" temporarily stores any content that has been deleted from your search Results. Data in the trash is kept for 30 days before it is permanently removed from your search, giving you enough time to review and recover any mistakenly deleted content.

To move content from your search into "The Trash", all you need to do is select the content that you want to remove and select the Trash delete icon.

🚨 Important: Media items and social posts in "the Trash" will automatically be deleted permanently after 30 days. After this time you'll be unable to restore permanently removed items.

Rejected

Any content that does not meet the search criteria you have set up will be automatically rejected and stored in the "Rejected" subpage. This helps to ensure that only relevant posts are included in your dataset.

For instance, if you are looking to collect content from a specific location or in a particular language, there are cases where some will make it past our location and language processing and filtering system, in which case it is moved to the Rejected bin. This means that whilst it matches your keywords, that content does not match any language or location parameters you have specified hence "Rejected". And like the Trash folder, rejected items can be restored back to the main Results Feed.

πŸ’‘ Top Tip: The feed is even more powerful whenever you start applying filters. Check out more info on how filters work here.
