What is a Treemap?

A treemap is a visual representation comprised of rectangles, each symbolising distinct categories within TRAC. These categories include bio keywords, content Keywords, Topics, Hashtags, and Entities.

You can find Treemaps within the following pages in TRAC:

What Insights Can You Gain?

When analysing treemaps, keep in mind these three crucial aspects:

  • The size of a rectangle generally indicates the prominence of a category; the larger the tile, the more significant it is.

  • The colour of a tile represents the channel it originates from.

  • A darker-coloured tile implies that the category is over-indexing on that specific channel in comparison to others.

πŸ“ˆ Example:

  • X emerges as the largest channel in terms of keyword mentions.

  • "Overwatch" dominates as a keyword across all channels, but it over-indexes on Twitch. This indicates that, in relation to the total number of posts originating from Twitch, "Overwatch" is mentioned above average compared to other channels.

Also, If a particular tile within the treemap catches your interest, simply click on it for further exploration. The feed will automatically filter your results, allowing you to closely examine the posts that contributed to the tile's presence within the treemap.

Lastly, Treemaps not only reveal observations about content like keywords, hashtags, topics, and entities. You can also alter your perspective to examine the frequently used emojis in the conversation you're studying. This can be especially helpful as emojis can convey a range of emotions that individual keywords cannot express.
