Learning Outcomes

  • You will learn how to upload First Party Data (FPD) to any of your TRAC searches.

  • You will understand the formatting requirements for your CSV files before uploading them to TRAC.

First Party is a new data source, which has been added to our platform and allows you as the user to upload your own business data to Pulsar TRAC. In doing this, you'll be able to use our platform's data analysis engine, visualization tools and AI Modules to understand your First Party data better.

Step One: Getting started

To add your First Party Data data to a search, you will need to select the data source First Party Data during new search creation. You can also edit and enable this for existing searches. A search can contain just First Party Data or can contain a mix of First Party Data and other data sources available on TRAC.

Step Two: Uploading Data

On the First Party Data page you’ll see a blue box where you can drag and drop your CSV (UTF-8) file. You can also choose to use our example CSV template to load your data directly into.

Step Three: Fields mapping

In this section you’ll be prompted to name your import, select a data type and map the data to our platform specific fields.

  1. Data Type: This will be the label for your data. ie Zendesk, Salesforce. You’ll be able to use the Data Type as a filter for isolating your data in your search results.

  2. CSV → Pulsar fields: You’ll now need to map your data to our platform specific fields, the more data you map the more you can analyse!

  3. Required fields: Without selecting these fields you cannot continue with the upload.

4. Pulsar Fields Guide: Clicking on this button will give you the descriptions of each field along with some examples.

Step Four: File Status Page

In this section, you can review the status of your current and previous upload on a specific search.

  1. Spinning Circle: Data is being processed.

  2. Green Tick: Data has successfully uploaded. You can click on the link icon to view the uploaded data in your search results. N.B. Your uploaded data will appear in the results after a minute.

  3. Red Circle with X: The uploaded file has failed and no data has been uploaded. Please upload the file and try again.

4. Amber Triangle: Data has uploaded but has some errors that need resolving.

  • Click on the Red Resolve button to start the workflow

  • You’ll need to download the .csv file to fix the errors. The downloaded file will only have the rows of data which didn’t upload.

  • The file will contain a new column which will state the error(s)

  • Once the errors have been resolved you’ll need to re-upload via the Blue drag and drop.

Step Five: Filtering data

Once the data has been uploaded into our platform you can filter, analyse and create dashboards just like any other source in the platform. To learn more about how to get the most out of First Party Data, then check out our What's New announcement here.
