Creating and restoring backups ensures traders can quickly recover personalized settings, historical data, and custom tools, minimizing downtime after system issues or migrations. Creating a Backup
Disconnect from all active connections.
Go to Control Center > Tools > Export > Backup File.
In the Export Backup File window, select the components to include:
Configuration Files: User settings.
Database: Trade execution history.
NinjaScript Files: Custom indicators, strategies, and add-ons.
Templates: Saved configurations and display settings.
Workspaces: Desktop layouts.
Choose a file location and name, then click Save.
Note: If you don't choose a custom location, NinjaTrader defaults to saving backup files in Documents\NinjaTrader 8 Backup (e.g., C:\Users\<your username>\Documents\NinjaTrader 8 Backup) and names the file using your computer's current date.
Store your backup in a secure cloud service like Google Drive or OneDrive for easy access during reinstallations or migrations.
Restoring from Backup
Download the backup file from your cloud storage.
Open Control Center > Tools > Import > Backup File.
Select the backup file and click Open.
Choose the components to restore in the Import Backup File window.
Click Import to complete the process.
