Why do I see an active dialer bar outside the dialer page?

The bar means your calling session is still active after you leave the dialer page. It shows a timer, return link, and mute/leave controls for browser calls.

If you started a calling session and then navigated somewhere else in Raise More, such as a contact's profile, your lists, or your inbox, you may see a colored bar pinned to the top of the screen. It says "You're currently in a dialer session." and includes a Return to the dialer → link. This is expected. The bar means your calling session is still active even though you have left the dialer screen.

What the bar shows

The bar tells you that a calling session is still running. What it displays depends on how you are calling.

  • "You're currently in a dialer session." confirms a session is still open. For browser-based calls it reads "You're currently in a browser dialer session."

  • A status dot and a timer appear when you are connected through the browser dialer. The timer shows how long the current call has been connected, counting up as MM:SS. While the call is still ringing, it shows "Connecting...".

  • Return to the dialer → takes you back to the full dialer screen in one click.

  • Mute appears for browser-based calls when you are off the dialer page. It mutes your microphone and changes to Muted while muted. If your browser or system has blocked microphone access, this button reads Blocked instead.

  • Leave session appears for browser-based calls when you are off the dialer page. It disconnects you from the call session.

The Mute and Leave session buttons only show for browser-based calls. If you are dialing in from a phone instead of the browser, the bar shows the session label and the return link, but not the in-bar call controls.

Why it appears on other pages

The dialer keeps your calling session active when you move to another page. This is on purpose. The most common reason to leave the dialer mid-session is to look at the person you are talking to: opening their contact profile to read past notes, check giving history, log a pledge, or update their information while they are on the line.

If navigating to a contact profile dropped your call, that would not work. So the session stays active as you move around the app. You can browse the contact's profile, take notes, and review history while you keep talking. The bar stays at the top so you have a way back to the dialer and, for browser calls, mute and leave controls.

This is also why the bar can appear on pages unrelated to calling. As long as a session is active, the bar shows on every page until you end the session.

How to end the session

Leaving the dialer page does not end your session. To stop calling, do one of the following.

  1. Click Leave session in the bar. For browser calls, when you are off the dialer page, the bar includes a Leave session button. Clicking it disconnects you from the session. If other people are on the same session, they stay connected; only you leave.

  2. Return to the dialer and end the call there. Click Return to the dialer →, then hang up or leave the session using the dialer's own controls.

Once you leave the session, the bar disappears. If it is still showing after you think you ended the call, you most likely navigated away from the dialer rather than leaving the session. Go back through the return link and end it there.

FAQ

Is this a bug?
No. The bar is intentional. It lets you keep a call going while you use the rest of the app, and gives you a way back to the dialer.

Will I stay connected if I just close the tab?
The session is tied to your active call. The reliable way to end it is to click Leave session or return to the dialer and hang up, rather than closing the tab.

Other people are on my session. What happens when I leave?
When you click Leave session, only you disconnect. Anyone else on the same call session stays connected and can continue.

The bar shows but I am not on a call. Why?
You likely still have a dialer session open even though no call is connected right now. Use Return to the dialer → to go back and close it out if you are done calling.

Can I mute without going back to the dialer?
Yes, for browser calls. The Mute button is in the bar when you are off the dialer page. It changes to Muted while your microphone is muted.

The mute button says Blocked. What does that mean?
Your browser or system has blocked microphone access. Allow microphone access in your browser or system settings, then the button returns to Mute.

If the bar behaves in a way this article does not explain, contact support through the in-app messenger.
