How do I dial from my cell phone instead of the browser?

You do not have to use your computer's microphone and speakers to make calls. When you start a dialer session, Raise More gives you several ways to connect your audio. You can have the system call your cell phone, dial in manually, or scan a QR code. Once your phone is connected, you work through the list and notes on your screen while the audio goes through your phone.

The connect screen

When you open a dialer session, a window titled "Connect to dialer session" appears. This is where you pick how you want your audio connected. The options shown depend on whether you are on a phone or a computer.

If you do not have a phone number saved on your user profile, the dialer will prompt you to add one before you can use the "Call me" option.

Option 1: Have the system call your cell phone

This is the simplest way to use your phone. The system places a call to your number and connects you into the session.

  1. Open the dialer session. The "Connect to dialer session" window appears.

  2. Find the phone number field. If you have a number on your profile, it is filled in for you. Otherwise, type the number you want the system to call, for example (555) 123-4567.

  3. Click Call me.

  4. The button changes to Pick up and dial 0 to connect. Your phone will ring.

  5. Answer the call and press 0 on your phone's keypad to join the session.

Once you are connected, your phone handles the audio. Use the buttons on your computer screen to move through the list, place calls, and save dispositions.

Option 2: Tap to dial from your mobile device

If you open the dialer session in your phone's browser, a button appears that lets you dial straight into the session.

  1. Open the dialer session link on your phone.

  2. Tap the button that begins with Dial into. It shows the dialer phone number followed by your session code.

  3. Your phone's dialer opens with the number and code already entered. Place the call.

  4. You are connected to the session.

Option 3: Scan the QR code

If you are working on your computer and want to use your phone for audio, scan the QR code shown on screen.

  1. Open the dialer session on your computer. In the "Connect to dialer session" window, look for the QR code under the "or scan" divider.

  2. Open your phone's camera and point it at the QR code.

  3. Follow the prompt on your phone to call the dialer number with your session code.

  4. Your phone is now connected, and you continue working from your computer screen.

If you do not see a QR code, your organization may have it turned off. Use Call me or dial in manually instead.

Option 4: Dial in manually

You can call the dialer number yourself and enter your session code.

  1. In the "Connect to dialer session" window, note the dialer number and the code shown next to it. The code ends with a star (asterisk).

  2. From your phone, call the dialer number.

  3. When prompted, enter your session code followed by the star key.

  4. You are connected to the session.

Switching from browser audio to your phone

If you started a session using your browser's microphone and want to move to your phone, use the Add participant button.

  1. While in the session, click the person-plus icon in the dialer bar to open the Add participant panel.

  2. In the "Or, call them directly" section, enter your own cell phone number.

  3. Click Call Them. The system will call that number.

The panel shows a warning when you are connected via browser audio: calling your own number here will disconnect your browser audio. That is expected when you are moving to your phone.

Switching from your phone to the browser

If your phone is connected and you want to switch to your computer's microphone, click Join via browser. A prompt will warn you that switching to the browser will hang up your phone call. Confirm to continue. Your browser will then request microphone access.

Notes

  • Call me and Call Them both place a real outbound call to the number you enter. Make sure the number is correct before clicking.

  • After clicking Call me, the button is locked while the call is placed. Wait for your phone to ring, then pick up and press 0.

  • If you see "Browser calling is not available for this caller ID" or a notice that the session needs a voice-capable caller ID, your caller ID is not set up for voice calls yet. Check your Caller IDs settings or contact support.
