When it comes to managing your data, utilizing base data lists can be incredibly valuable. Base data refers to records where the intent is unknown, such as a list of all records in your county. These lists can be useful for conducting large-scale marketing campaigns, identifying unmarketed records. In this article, we'll walk you through the process of uploading and organizing base data to optimize your data management efforts.
Creating the Base Data list
Lists can be created from the lists page:
Or on upload by selecting Add data -> Uploading a new list not in REISift yet.
Uploading
If you have already created the Base data list in your account, Select Add data -> Adding properties to an existing list inside REISift.
Setup
Next, select where and when you pulled the list. If the records have phone numbers, select Numbers Yes and enter in the skip tracing information.
Tagging
On the next step, we'll add autotags based on when and where the list was purchased, and when and where it was skip traced. You can also add any custom tags on this step.
Upload the File
Next, click to browse or drag and drop the file. Note that the file must be .csv file type.
Map the Columns
We can automap owner name, property address, mailing address, phone numbers, emails, and property status. Below is a link to a csv template that can be downloaded and used as a guide for easy uploading.

Columns didn't automap? No worries, you can always manually map by dragging and dropping.
Review
Review all information and if everything is correct, select Finish Upload to upload your file.
Seeing a notification you exceeded your upload limit? No worries! On the Professional and Business plans, you can purchase additional space. It's $5 to upload an additional 10k new records. Please see Upload Limits & How to Purchase Additional Space for more information on purchasing additional space.
Preventing False Positives in your REISift Account
False positives can occur when lists are not organized properly. List stacking should indicate how motivated an owner is to sell. If the lists are not organized by qualifying data or by vexation/pain point (code violations, tax delinquent, pre-foreclosure, etc.) it can appear an owner may be more motivated to sell than they actually are.

Think of your base data list as a placeholder list until you know the intent. As you upload more lists, these records will most likely begin stacking with other lists in your account. When a property is stacked with another list, it can be removed from the base data list to help prevent false positives with list stacking.
To see which records are on the Base list and at least one other list in your account, Navigate to the Records page and select Filter Records. Next, add the Lists filter block and select your Base Data list. Then add the List Stacking filter block, and enter in a minimum of 2. Apply Filters.
Seeing results? Great! It means you now know the intent and motivation points of these records. These records can now be removed from the Base Data list since they are already associated with other lists for qualifying data and/or vexations.
To remove from the Base Data list, select the ALL tab, then select All Records. Next go to Manage -> Remove from Lists.
Now, select your Base Data list, and Remove from lists.
