Overview

Notifications alert your team when prospects take action so nothing gets missed during the leasing process.

What notifications are used for

RentEngine notifications help your team respond quickly to:

  • New messages

  • Incoming calls

  • Scheduled showings

  • Cancellations or reschedules

  • Items that need follow-up

Each user controls their own notification preferences.

Note: Users will only receive notifications for properties that they're associated with and for message from unknown people (who are not yet prospects that are associated with a property)

Types of notifications

RentEngine offers three types of notifications:

  • Email notifications

  • Browser notifications (for the desktop app)

  • Push notifications (for the mobile app)

Each user controls their own notification preferences.

Email notifications

Emails notifications are the most comprehensive

  1. Settings > Communication > Notifications

  2. Use the checkboxes to decide which email notifications you'd like to receive

  3. Press Save at the top-right

Note: Admins can modify email notifications for other team members

Browser notifications

Browser notifications alert you to new text messages and incoming phone calls

  1. Navigate to the Command Center

  2. Click the orange bell icon at the bottom right

  3. Follow the on-screen instruction to subscribe to browser notifications

Note: Please make sure your browser permissions allow notification from RentEngine (see the guide for Google Chrome)

Push notifications

Push notifications alert you to new messages, calls, and prospect activity like showings

  1. Navigate to the Settings tab of the RentEngine app

  2. Scroll down and use the toggles to choose your preferred notifications

  3. Changes are automatically saved

Note: Turning on Do Not Disturb mutes incoming calls and texts

Recommended settings by role

Central leasing team

  • Enable all push and browser notifications

  • Enable only the email notifications that you're interested in

Showing agents

  • Enable all push and browser notifications

  • Enable email notification for scheduled and canceled accompanied showings

Marketing

  • Enable email notifications for PMS Sync and Syndication

Admins

  • Limit notifications to critical events

  • Turn on Do Not Disturb in the mobile app and Command Center

  • Avoid day-to-day lead alerts

This keeps notifications useful without creating noise.

Troubleshooting notifications

If you’re not receiving certain notifications:

  • Confirm notifications are enabled with the steps above

  • Check your email spam or filtering rules, and check with your IT provider for potentially blocked emails

  • Make sure you’re logged into the correct account

If notifications are enabled but still not arriving, contact our support via chat

Best practices

  • Review notification settings during onboarding

  • Adjust alerts as responsibilities change

  • Disable non-critical notifications to stay focused

Well-configured notifications improve response times without overwhelming your team.
