Connect your Apartments.com multifamily contract with RentEngine

Overview

If you have a paid Apartments.com multifamily contract, connect it to RentEngine so your apartment listings syndicate from a single source and don’t get blocked as duplicates.

This ensures Apartments.com publishes your listings from RentEngine and routes all leads into RentEngine.

When this is required

Apartments.com requires a paid multifamily contract for communities with 4 or more units.

If any of your buildings meet that threshold:

  • Apartments.com must treat RentEngine as the authorized feed

  • Listings must publish from one source only

Posting directly in Apartments.com or syndicating through another feed can cause listings to be blocked.

Keep RentEngine as your only syndication source.

Step 1 — Set up your multifamily properties in RentEngine

Before connecting your Apartments.com contract, confirm your buildings and floorplans are set up correctly in RentEngine.

Make sure any active units at the building are connected with the multifamily property in the Properties tab.

Do not move forward until this step is complete.

Step 2 — Email your Apartments.com representative

Send a short email to your Apartments.com representative and CC ops@rentengine.io.

This message must come from you, the contract holder.

Email template

CC: ops@rentengine.io
Subject: Feed Transfer Request – RentEngine

Message:

Hi there,

We’d like to apply our paid Apartments.com Multifamily contract to properties syndicated via the RentEngineMFH feed.

Here are the buildings with Apartments.com contracts:

[Insert building names here]

Please let us know if anything else is needed to move forward.

Thanks,

Step 3 — RentEngine provides technical details

RentEngine will reply on the same email thread with:

  • Property IDs

  • Feed metadata Apartments.com needs

No action is required from you during this step.

Step 4 — Apartments.com confirms the change

Apartments.com will confirm once the feed is switched.

After confirmation:

  • Listings publish from RentEngine

  • Duplicate blocks are removed

  • Leads flow directly into RentEngine

No additional setup is needed.

Important reminders

  • Do not post listings directly in Apartments.com

  • Do not syndicate the same properties from another feed

  • Use RentEngine as the single source of truth for Apartments.com listings

Multiple sources almost always cause visibility issues.
