My document won't upload. What should I do?

Quick fixes for documents that won't upload, including password-protected PDFs, and how to send them to us instead.

Written by Joe Wigoder

Most upload problems are quick to fix. Here are the most common causes and what to do.

The file is password-protected

Many banks protect their PDF statements with a password. Our system can't open these, so the upload will fail. You can either remove the password before uploading, or email the document to support@rentmigo.co.uk with the password and we'll upload it for you.

The file is a screenshot or photo

Bank statements need to be the original PDF downloaded from your online banking. Screenshots and photos of a banking app aren't accepted, so please download the statement as a PDF instead. Scans of genuine paper statements or letters are fine.

The file is in the wrong format

Please upload documents as PDFs where possible.

Your ID won't verify

Your ID isn't uploaded as a file. Instead, you take photos of it during the identity check, which is carried out securely by Plaid (certified to ISO 27001 for information security). You must use your original, physical ID. Photos of an ID on another screen, scans and photocopies will fail the check.

It still won't upload

No problem. Email the document to support@rentmigo.co.uk from the email address you used to apply, and we'll add it to your application for you. You can also send it to us on live chat, WhatsApp or WeChat.

Already uploaded it?

Please don't upload the same document again. If we need something different, we'll email you to let you know exactly what's needed.
