What do I need if I'm a student?

How students confirm their student status and show how their rent will be paid, including offer letters and accepted funds.

Written by Joe Wigoder

Students apply in the same way as everyone else. We just need to confirm you're a student and see how your rent will be paid.

Confirming you're a student

Any one of these is fine:

  • A photo of your physical student ID card showing an expiry date

  • A PDF proof of enrolment from your university

  • Your offer letter, if your course hasn't started yet

Digital student ID cards and screenshots of student apps can't be accepted, so please use one of the options above.

If your tenancy starts before your course

That's fine. Your offer letter is enough to confirm you're a student.

Showing how your rent will be paid

You can use any of the following, on their own or combined:

  • Your own savings

  • Savings from one or more family members (see family support)

  • A student loan, scholarship, bursary or sponsorship letter showing the amount and the period it covers

  • Income from a job, with your last 3 months of payslips or a signed employment contract

What funds we can accept from students

For students and their family members, we can accept:

  • Current accounts

  • Savings accounts

  • Fixed deposits

  • Stocks and shares

  • Wealth management products

Accounts can be held at any bank, in any country, currency or language. Please don't translate documents.

Bank statements

We always need your own bank statements for the most recent 3 consecutive months, as original PDFs downloaded from your online banking. Scans of genuine paper statements are fine. Screenshots aren't accepted.
