Overview
When a patient does not have a RepeatMD account, you can still build and send them a Custom Plan from your Admin Panel. Enter their contact details at plan creation, compose the plan as usual, and send a link they can open without signing up first.
This article is for providers and staff who create Custom Plans during or after consultations. For permissions and patient-experience differences, see Custom plans for patients without accounts (Admin Panel).
Before You Start
You need Admin Panel access with Create and manage Custom Plans permission.
Open Custom Plans from the left-side navigation.
Have the patient’s phone number, first and last name, and location (if multi-location) ready.
For plan components (treatments, pricing, expiration), follow the same rules as standard Custom Plans in Creating and managing custom plans.
Why It Matters
Sending plans without requiring upfront account creation:
Speeds up post-consultation follow-through — patients review the plan while motivation is highest.
Reduces drop-off — account creation happens at checkout, not before they see value.
Keeps non-account records organized — these patients appear in Custom Plans until they sign up.
How It Works
Create a patient record at plan creation: Use Create a new patient (below the patient drop-down) to enter contact details for someone not yet in RepeatMD.
Send on save: Click Create and send plan to deliver the plan link by text (and trigger Custom Plan automated messages).
Until the patient signs up:
They appear in your Custom Plans section only (not as a full Patients list account holder).
They do not receive general marketing texts from your app.
They do receive Custom Plan system texts (creation, updates, reminders).
After account creation: Patient details entered during plan creation may no longer be editable from Custom Plans. Update contact information from the patient’s profile under Patients.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Create and send a Custom Plan to a non-account patient
Log in to your Admin Panel.
Click Custom Plans in the left-side navigation.
Click Create New Plan.
Below the patient drop-down, click Create a new patient.
Enter:
Phone number
First and last name
Location (if you have multiple locations)
Add plan components as you would for any Custom Plan:
Plan name
Included treatments, packages, pricing, expiration, and other fields
Click Create and send plan. RepeatMD sends the plan to the patient.
Edit a Custom Plan or patient details (before account creation)
Open the plan from Custom Plans.
Update plan line items, pricing, or expiration as needed.
If you entered incorrect name, phone, or location at creation, edit those details from the plan workflow before the patient creates an account.
Save and resend if your workflow requires notifying the patient of changes (updates trigger Custom Plan notification texts).
After the patient creates an account
Open the patient from Patients in the left-side navigation.
Update contact or profile details there if needed.
Manage the plan itself from Custom Plans or the patient’s profile per Creating and managing custom plans.
Best Practices and Pro Tips
Double-check the phone number before sending. The plan link and texts route to that number.
Tell patients to expect a text with their plan link during the consultation.
Use the overview article for staff training on what non-account patients can and cannot do in the app.
Set a realistic plan expiration — reminder texts fire on a schedule before expiration.
Common Mistakes and FAQs
Q: I do not see the patient in my Patients list. Is something wrong?
A: Non-account patients appear in Custom Plans only until they create an account at checkout.
Q: Can I edit the patient’s phone number after sending?
A: Yes, before they create an account, from the Custom Plan workflow. After account creation, edit the profile under Patients.
Q: Will this patient receive my promotional text campaigns?
A: No, not until they create an account and opt in to marketing texts. They receive Custom Plan automated texts only.
Q: How is this different from a standard Custom Plan?
A: The plan-building steps are the same. The difference is creating a new patient record at the start for someone without an account.
Q: Where do I learn what non-account patients can do in the app?
