Add a Discover Card to a Campaign (Admin Panel)

Learn how to add a Discover Card to a Campaign, configure its image, headline, and call-to-action button, and control whether Offer details appear on the card.

Overview

The Discover Card is one of the six building blocks you can add to a Promotion. It's the card patients see on the app's Discover page. It displays your Promotion image, header, subheader, description, and an optional call-to-action button that sends patients to a specific destination in the app.

If your Promotion includes Offers, a Discover Card is required. It is the destination in the app where patients view the Promotion and its Offers together before redeeming.

This article is for practice owners, managers, and admins who configure Campaigns in the Admin Panel.

Why It Matters

The Discover Card is how patients discover your Campaign in the app. Without it, patients have no dedicated place to learn about the promotion, see the Offer details, or take action. For In-Office Offers in particular, patients need to read the Offer terms and access the redemption QR code from somewhere in the app — the Discover Card is that destination.

A well-configured Discover Card with a clear headline and a direct call-to-action button reduces friction between a patient seeing the promotion and acting on it.

How It Works

The Discover Card is built by editing directly on a live preview: two phone mockups side by side showing the Discover feed card (how it appears in the list) and the detail page (what patients see after tapping it). You click the parts you want to add — the image, the headline, the call to action — right on the mock itself.

  • Discover Cards appear on the Discover page of the patient app for the duration of the promotion's scheduled dates.

  • If your Promotion has an Offer, RepeatMD adds the Discover Card building block for you automatically to edit.

  • If your Promotion includes any Offers, the Discover Card's CTA button (its copy and where it links) is automatically controlled and cannot be edited manually. See the CTA button section below.

Editing the card

  • Image — click the image area on either phone preview to upload it. This image belongs to the Discover Card only.

  • Headline — click the headline text directly on either phone to edit it. Maximum 49 characters. It's the same field on both the feed card and the detail page — editing it in one place updates both.

  • Preview text — click the line under the headline on the feed card. Maximum 140 characters, and it can wrap across multiple lines.

  • Description — a separate field that only appears on the detail page (not the feed card). Maximum 400 characters, multiline. Click it directly on the detail-page preview to edit.

  • CTA button — the tappable Call-to-Action button at the bottom of the card, the one with text on it like "Shop now" or "Learn more."

Can you edit the CTA button's copy?

It depends on whether the Promotion has any Offers on it.

No Offers on the Promotion → yes, you can edit it. Click the CTA button directly on the preview. You'll get two things to set:

  • The copy on the button — pick one of six preset labels (Book now, Buy now, Call now, Learn more, Leave a review, Shop now), or choose Custom and type your own text. If you never touch it, it shows "Learn more" by default.

  • Where the button takes patients when tapped — set separately, in a panel next to the preview (not on the button itself). Choose Link to Item (a specific service or product), Link to Shop Category (any Shop category, including the Promotion's own Custom Category if you've added one), or Link to URL.

Offers on the Promotion → no, you can't edit it. The button's copy is set automatically and can't be clicked or changed. The detail page also automatically grows an "Available Offers" section listing those Offers — nothing to build, it just appears.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. In your Admin Panel, go to MedCommerce Engine™ → Promotions.

  2. Open an existing draft or click New promotion.

  3. From the block picker, add the Discover Card.

  4. Click the image area on either preview phone to upload or confirm your Card Image.

  5. Click the headline directly on the preview to set it (49 characters max).

  6. Click the preview text under the headline to add supporting copy (140 characters max).

  7. On the detail-page preview, click the description area to add a longer explanation (400 characters max).

  8. If your Promotion has no Offers, click the CTA button on the preview to set its copy, and set where it links in the side panel. If your Promotion does have Offers, skip this — the CTA button's copy and link are set automatically.

  9. Continue building any other components, then Schedule the Promotion or Save as Draft.

Pro tip: If you have created a Custom Category for this Campaign, build it before configuring the Content Card button so the "Link to this campaign's custom category" option is available in the Link to Shop Category search.

Best Practices

  • Lead the headline with the patient benefit, not the promotion's internal name — patients scroll the feed quickly.

  • Link the button to your Custom Category when one exists. If the Promotion has a Custom Category, linking the Content Card button directly to it creates a seamless path from Discover to Shop.

  • Add your Offer first if you're including one. The Discover Card and its CTA button (copy and link both) get handled automatically the moment the Offer exists — there's nothing to configure manually.

  • Use the Description field for real explanation, not a repeat of the headline. It only shows up on the detail page, so it's the right place for the "why this matters" copy that doesn't fit in 49 characters.

FAQs

Q: I never clicked "add Discover Card," but there's one on my Promotion. Why?

A: You added an Offer. RepeatMD automatically creates a Discover Card the moment a Promotion has an Offer, since it's the only place in the app those Offers get shown to patients.

Q: Why can't I set a custom CTA button copy or link on my Discover Card?

A: Your Promotion includes at least one Offer. When a Promotion has Offers, the Discover Card's CTA button — both its copy and where it links — is controlled automatically and can't be manually overridden.

Q: Where do patients actually see a Promotion's Offers in the app?

A: On the Discover Card's detail page, in the automatically-generated "Available Offers" section. There's no other place in the app where a Promotion's Offers are presented.

Q: I removed the Discover Card and now I can't save my Promotion. What happened?

A: Removing a Discover Card from a Promotion that still has Offers is a deliberate action that sticks — it won't auto-recreate itself. Add the Discover Card back manually to save or schedule the Promotion.

Q: Can I use different headlines on the feed card and the detail page?

A: No — it's the same Headline field in both places.

Q: What happens if I set the CTA button's copy to "Call now"?

A: The link panel switches from a link picker to a phone number field, and the number is validated before you can save.

Q: Can I link the CTA button to the Promotion's own Custom Category?

A: Yes, but only when the Promotion has no Offers (since the CTA button is otherwise locked). Under Link to Shop Category, the Promotion's own Custom Category appears as an option alongside your regular Shop categories.
