Create and edit a Discover card (Admin Panel)

Learn how to create, edit, and reorder Discover cards in your Admin Panel so patients see timely education, promotions, and calls to action in the Discover tab of your patient app.

Overview

Discover cards appear in the Discover tab of your patient app. Use them to highlight treatments, events, external links, review requests, and seasonal promotions. Each card includes a title, headline, image, call-to-action button, and optional description. You can create new cards, edit existing ones, and drag to reorder which cards patients see first.

This article is for practice owners, managers, and admins who build and refresh patient-facing content in the App Builder.

Before You Start

  • You must have Administrator or Manager access to create and edit Discover cards.

  • Open App Builder from the left-side navigation, then select the Discover tab.

  • Have ready: card title, headline, image, call-to-action type, and the link or phone number the button should open.

  • If you have multiple locations, decide whether this card applies to All Locations or specific locations only. For location-specific links (such as Google review pages), create one card per location.

  • External links must use a valid URL format. See How It Works before pasting review or booking links.

  • Some Discover cards are auto-generated by promotions or automated offers. You can edit their content, but deletion rules may differ. See How It Works.

Why It Matters

Discover cards keep patients engaged between visits:

  • Surface timely offers without waiting for patients to browse the shop.

  • Drive action with buttons for booking, shopping, watching videos, calling your office, or leaving a review.

  • Educate on new services with images and descriptions patients see on open.

  • Fix broken or stale cards by editing links, creative, and targeting in place.

  • Prioritize high-value content by reordering so the most important cards appear first.

  • Stay on-brand by refreshing cards seasonally instead of relying on printed brochures or your website alone.

How It Works

Where cards appear: Discover cards show in the Discover tab of the patient app. Some campaigns (such as automated offers) also generate cards that appear here; this article covers manually created cards and editing cards already on the Discover list.

Location targeting: When you create or edit a card, choose All Locations or select specific locations. Patients only see cards assigned to their location.

Call-to-action types: Common options include Call now, RSVP here, Book now, Watch now, Save today, Shop now, and Leave a review. The button label you choose should match where the link goes.

Link and phone formatting (required):

  • URLs must start with https://. Links without https:// may not open correctly in the patient app.

  • Phone numbers must use the format tel:+1 followed by the 10-digit number with no spaces or hyphens (for example, tel:+15551234567).

Manual vs. system-generated cards: Cards you create manually can be fully edited from the Discover tab. Cards created by some Automated Offers or promotions may have limited edit options; certain system-generated cards can only be removed from the Discover tab, not from the offer builder. Confirm card source before editing or deleting.

Reorder behavior: Drag-and-drop on the Discover list controls the order patients see cards. The top card gets the most visibility.

After you save: New and updated cards appear in your Discover list immediately. Patients see updates the next time they open the Discover tab. There is no separate “published” state for manual Discover cards.

  1. Log in to your Admin Panel.

  2. Click App Builder in the left-side navigation.

  3. Open the Discover tab.

  4. Scroll to the bottom of the card list and click + Create a new card.

  5. Select All Locations or check the specific locations where this card should appear.

  6. Enter a Discover Card Title (internal/admin label).

  7. Enter a Discover Card headline (patient-facing headline on the card).

  8. Click the image box to upload a photo or graphic.

  9. Select a call to action (for example, Book now, Shop now, or Leave a review).

  10. Enter the link or phone number for the call-to-action button:

    • For URLs, paste the full link starting with https://

    • For phone calls, enter tel:+1 plus the 10-digit number with no spaces or hyphens

  11. Add an optional description with supporting detail.

  12. Click Save new card.

Edit an existing Discover card

  1. Log in to your Admin Panel.

  2. Click App Builder in the left-side navigation.

  3. Open the Discover tab.

  4. Find the card you want to update.

  5. Click the three dots on the right side of the card.

  6. Select Edit.

  7. Update any fields:

    • Locations

    • Discover Card Title

    • Discover Card headline

    • Image

    • Call to action

    • Link or phone number

    • Description

  8. Click Save (or the equivalent save action for your card type).

Reorder Discover cards

  1. On the Discover tab, click and drag a card to a new position in the list.

  2. Release to drop the card in place.

  3. Confirm order in the patient app preview if available.

Best Practices and Pro Tips

  • Match the CTA to the destination. Use Leave a review only when the link goes to your Google review page or another review site.

  • Refresh cards regularly. Seasonal promotions and new services should replace stale cards so the Discover tab stays current.

  • Use one card per location-specific link. If each location has its own Google review URL, create separate cards per location instead of one card for all locations.

  • Test links before publishing or after every edit. Open the URL in a browser to confirm it loads over https://.

  • Keep headlines short. Patients scan Discover quickly; lead with the benefit or action.

  • Reorder after every campaign launch. Put your newest promotion or review request near the top.

  • Check multi-location cards. Use the location filter on the Discover page to confirm each location’s cards look correct.

  • Coordinate with marketing. When a card points to a limited-time offer, set a reminder to archive or replace it when the offer ends.

Common Mistakes and FAQs

Q: My link does not work in the patient app. What went wrong?

A: Confirm the URL starts with https://. Links missing the protocol may fail to open in the app. Phone links must use tel:+1 with no spaces or hyphens.

Q: How do I format a phone number for Call now?

A: Use tel:+1 followed by the 10-digit number with no spaces or hyphens. Example: tel:+15551234567.

Q: Can one card target multiple locations?

A: Yes. Select All Locations or check multiple locations. If each location needs a different link, create separate cards instead.

Q: What call-to-action options are available?

A: Common options include Call now, RSVP here, Book now, Watch now, Save today, Shop now, and Leave a review. Available options may vary slightly by card type.

Q: Can I delete a Discover card?

A: Yes for manually created cards. Some promotion-generated cards can only be removed from the Discover tab; deleting the underlying offer may be required for automated-offer cards.

Q: How do I move a card to the top of the Discover tab?

A: Drag the card to the first position in the list on the Discover tab.

Q: Will edits affect patients who already saw the old card?

A: Patients see the updated card the next time they open the Discover tab. There is no separate “published” state for manual Discover cards.

Q: Who can create and edit Discover cards?

A: Administrators and Managers can create, edit, and reorder Discover cards.
